With the charge pipe cracked, will this cause oil to leak through it? The one underneath the turbo, sorry ignore the topic heading

IF your turbo likes to leak oil or the rings are toast and pcv sees a lot of oil then yes that is normal...

And to answer your questions, because there's nothing I hate more than a thread that will turn up in the search later without anything useful to add...

so which engine is it better to get 400hp off of? a 1jzgte or the 7mgte?? and why?
Your original question. Really, this depends on a lot of factors. Your budget, what kind of driving you plan to do, whether fuel economy is a factor for you, and a whole bunch more. Despite what you have heard, neither the 1J or the 7M is a silver bullet. They both have strengths and weaknesses, just like every other engine offering.

The 'edited' question. And while I realize you probably did this in an attempt to dodge the Search Nazis, AND they are right insofar as they went (meaning, yes, you should have searched) this was a less than ideal option here.

Oil only leaks out of the charge pipe if there is oil *IN* the charge pipe, which usually happens when the engine has too much blowby. The PCV system sucks the air back into the turbo, and instead of being sent back through the engine to be burned, it separates out of the air and collects in the charge pipes, intake manifold, and intercooler. I've seen cars with literally several liters of oil in the intercooler. Good sign that the engine is on it's way out - time to pull it apart and rebuild it.

Well Personally I Prefer 7m. Like how I prefer Playstation over Xbox.
Nothing wrong with 1jz I'm just not a big fan of the Jz family.

Both Engines are 400hp Capable.

So it's really up to you.

7m definably has more torque but the 1jz is just soo much smoother and is way better on gas.

The new standard "use the search" response.

On google, type site:supramania.com (<-- note the space)[your search query]

:D I like being useful. Two things though: 1) that search method comes with a manual lol so post the link instead, and 2) always suggest search terms (or outright post links that would've come up, but that's above and beyond gold-star-here's-a-cookie status lol).

The second one will always remain the standard.

Edit: There wasn't a thread too long ago about the engine comparison: http://www.supramania.com/forums/sh...e-Stick-with-7M-Power-...-or-swap-for-1JZ-2JZ

I didnt mean to be a dick but alot of people join the forum only to post before they have even tried searching, god knows i dont have all that many posts or been on here the longest but i at least try to search what im looking for before i saturate the forums with more "jz or 7m?" threads.

I realize that what the OP did was poor form. What I am pointing out to you, however, is that becoming the Search Nazi actually makes the situation worse. Read the link I included: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?114243-The-Search-Police-do-not-live-here
