Can it be done? The 7mge and 7mgte is essentially the same motor without the turbo, correct. I dunno, I've never really had any interest in an N/A until I found someone selling one super cheap in my area...and now I'm curious. Gotta have that turbo fix:evil2:

search and you will find,

Most of its the same diffrent same block one knock sensor electronics are different and has a higher compression. you would be better off just swapping it to a gte its not that big of a challenge as long as you got all the parts and tools.

^^ yes, but you only can go so far with an NA-T, then after that you have to really start to upgrade everything so the engine can take it. i think max is like 9psi before you need upgrades to keep the engine running strong.

Really depends what you are looking into I was looking into also doing a NA-T and it wasnt worth it to me for the price, The price to turbo my N/A it would be arround what you can get a used 7mgte.

For me it was better to get a second hand 7mgte with a spun bearing and rebuild it. So its really all up to you.

I just didnt like the idea of having to only run on 10lbs of boost on the ct26 I wanted more options.

EDIT: Well D34DC311 beat me to it

Really depends how much you can get parts for but normally starting arround 600 if you get all the parts and do it yourself. Ill try to find a site of a guy who did n/a-t he has a price list.

cheapest ive seen the 1/2Na-t was about 1500, the parts will cost you about 600
but here lies the problem, can your engine handle it.
so the total 1500 comes from the guy rebuilding the engine also, you dont want to blow ur engine because u thought it was strong enough and it ended up taking a dump on the highway.

Similar question:

1/2 na-t
I have new Ross piston, 2mm mhg, 440cc injectors, IC, IC hard pipes, I will custom make exhaust. and will be rebuilding the engine.

this car has a special value to me and that's why I'm spending the extra money right now on internals.

What would I expect to boost on this set up? I don't want to get the electronics just yet becasue I don't want to hassle with all of that right now.

i have fairly the same question. but also have a awsner...

if your going to run ross pistons, aren't those lower compression pistons? (8.4:1) if so, then you just converted your n/a into turbo status, minus the oil squiter's, so you will run into detenation stoping you from boosting as high as stock turbo set up, but thats just theory that i know of, idea is the oil squiters do keep the pistons cooler keeping detenation from occuring during long drives while boosting at stock psi,

my question is, if you prep the n/a block correctly for a mhg, and still run the n/a pistons, at what point do you have to run race fuel to avoid detenation?
also would be running on turbo electronics and drilling the turbo knock sensor's in the block.

i am going to swap an 7m into my celica, and it wont need high boost nor an upgraded turbo to drift the light shell, but would be nice to make the most power on stock stuff..
