I have heard a lot about how much better the car feels and accelerates with the N/A Diff when turbo'd.. I have a turbo and N/A LSD but I am thinking about just leaving the N/A diff in for when I do N/A-T My car is automatic as well and Im looking for drag racing it so acceleration would be better off the line in my opinion.. Would there be any reason the N/A diff wouldn't handle the power of being turbo'd? Im going to be running stock CT 26 with an FMIC and keeping NA Cams and pistons, HKS 1.2 mm head gasket and all GTE electronics with SAFC Neo for tuning, Planning on running 8 psi for daily use and 10-12 for the drags.

I run the N/A diff in my 7mgte swap. Its nice but i think the turbo diff + LSD ( if your na was not a sport package) has better top end. Although the acceleration of the N/A diff is really nice

Yes, but turbos work off load, higher gearing like that reduces engine load and you get less boost. Oh, and if it's not a sport package with the LSD then it's not so good ;)

It is the sport package, has the LSD, Im just planning to run 10-12 lbs for the drags, should be good for better acceleration than higher top speed im not really worried about

I left my na diff in for about a year or so, and thought it was great. Boost built fine.
I only switched to get lower cruising rpms(4.1NA>3.9LSD)

yeah, i'm still running the 4.3 differential when my car was NA. It's an LSD; the only option the original owner checked. I like the acceleration, but I hate having to shift almost immediately, and having such high RPMs on the highway. Im thinking of sourcing a 3.73 for my 89, and swapping out the open diff on my 92 for the LSD currently on my 89...

is your N/A diff LSD? if so ill trade you my 89 Turbo Diff lol

The diffs fit the same driveshafts? I mean if i tried putting in a 4.3 lsd in my 89 turbo would it work?

Yes, all mk3 diffs are direct plug and play.

I have a 4.3 LSD in my GTE swapped car now and I wish I had a 3.73. I dont think the higher gears make much of a difference in peppiness, but it sure does get annoying shifting so often. Plus, on the highway I'm at lie 4k rpms. The car will do 80 with ease, but it's like I need a 6th gear for that, lol.

I'll be searching for a 3.7 diff from an 89+ turbo at some point.

hmmm thanks for the imput,, i thought the gearing might help a bit since these things are so slow 0-30mph

Maybe its just me but boost takes forever in first

With a 4.3 you'll barely begin to boost before you need to shift. If you don't already have a big downpipe, that might help your boost hit faster.

I think you've got to be uncommonly fast at shifting for a 4.3 to be very beneficial anyways.
