Hey guys, I have a 1989 stock na. 5 speed with around 135,000 miles on it. It has a fresh Head gasket and I run 93 octane. Its bone stock. Except for the stereo. B)

My friend has a 1998 firebird v6 auto. His tires are 215s and his rims are aftermarket. His car has around 145,000 on it and is bone stock as well. He runs 87 octane if that matters.

So what I'm wondering, is who would win in your average 0-60ish race. What about a pull from like 30-90? Heck, even a quarter mile. Obviously there's going to be some bias here on SUPRA mania but honest answers are what I'm looking for. I don't care if I'll lose every time. I'm just curious to know. Thanks guys! I always have gotten awesome responses on here.

I suspect it will come down to the driver. What kind of launch would I need and how much slipping when shifting?

Idk race him lol...

But i have have a friend with a LT1 Firebird with straight pipes and intake
When we race from a Dig it takes me to about 80mph then i slowly pull
Same effect with 35mph roll were door to door till about 70 and i start to inch away.

Lol and that's why I want to Turbo it. But Yeah, we've somewhat raced and he beat me back before I knew how to launch and stuff really. The other day when I had a bug still we did a 55 ish roll messing around and I was inching ahead in third. The biggest problem is that we both need our cars and neither of us can affoard to blow something or have anything go wrong. Now that I have a new gasket (fel-pro) and around bolts at 90 ft. Lbs. and know how to shift I want to race all out once. I also have a friend with an integra 5 speed running the gsr engine non-Turbo and he stripped the interrior pretty good as well as a few little mods like exhaust. I want to race him just to see if I can come close to keeping up.

More then likely the GSR will take you. I have a couple GSR buddy's around here that will stick with till 100mph but then there cars die off.

If you check out my youtube channel (Sig below) we have a bunch of local street racing video's up

well.... I'm not sure if this is any gauge but my buddy has an S2000 and he can slap my turbo around like it's nothing... >.>... (going to change that soon... >.>.. planing 2J-NA-T swap soon :D ) Both both our cars are stock and it trips me out just how fast that little 4 banger Honda is... though the funny thing is, You would think his N/A tune honda would kill from a dig vs. my turbo supra, but it's funny... V-tec takes so long to kick in I WHHHHOOOPPPPP his ass all through 1st gear but the instant we shift into 2nd he takes off like a bullet...

@downshift: The S2000 takes off once it's revving past 6K RPM. Takes a bit to get it there, but once it is...

For the V6 Firebird, I've taken on a few of those in my car before the 7M-GTE was dropped in, and you should be able to consistently take it if you're both in stock trim. The auto doesn't really do them any favors, though it is a slightly larger displacement, and lower weight car, which makes up for some of the difference. (The Firebird is heavier than the Camaro, which is what I lined up against more often.)

The one thing to note though is that Canadian spec NA cars (Like mine) all came with the limited slip differential, and I was definitely taking advantage of that in 1st and 2nd. If your car has an open diff, then you'll have just a little less traction off the line, which could make the difference.

Suprajztwenty. Yeah, I know it is, but as slow as my car may be, its still faster than 80% of the cars out there. Cailbers, basic civics, basic neons, etc. That's why I wanted it. I got a sick deal on it and heck, for a first car its not bad eh? I still have a little fun in it. But please, if you would like to make my supra a little faster, then be my guest. I don't have the $ to. Anyways, if you read up in the posts you'd see that the reason I don't race him is because we both can't afford to screw up our cars. I like the sarcasm, just don't like people dissing on my car.
