I need some help determining what is unplugged below the intake in my 88 Supra Turbo. It seems to be some sort of sensor. I also have some spliced wires that I would like to know what they are for and why someone would have done it.

Sorry for the blurry pics...

Here is the sensor that is unplugged. It is below the intake.

Now why would someone splice the black and white wire together with a butt connector? This is also below the intake and leads to the transmission on the passenger side.

The green plug looks like a knock sensor plug. Turbo there are 2, one on the block behind the starter and one towards the front. NA there is just one parallel to the starter in the middle of the block. It should be gray.

Just reconnect the other one with a new butt connector. A previous owner (or more likely their mechanic) probably clipped it doing other work, or it melted on something... no way of knowing for sure.

Its a Turbo. I figured it was a knock sensor. I guess I will feel around till I find it.

Do you know what the clipped wired do? I am going to solder them and heat shrink them back together. But was wondering what issues what would cause. I'm getting Tranny Code 62 and was wondering if this would cause it.

Looks like possibly the Neutral start switch wire?

I'd butt connect it and heatshrink it. If JJ gets wind that your going to solder it he'll tell you why.

I was going to check out the No1 Solenoid when I change the tranny filter and do a ATF Flush. But I noticed these wires and thought I better fix them first.

After some searching, it seems like my Neutral Start Switch was bypassed by jumping the black and white wires together. This car is an Auto so i'm guessing they had problems starting it and just bypassed it. What else would this affect?

It will be right above the starter, towards the front of it. Kind of hard to see/feel. Some times the starter needs to be removed in order to plug it in ;)
