I was sick of the dorky long shifter, and the wierd leaned back angle so I fixed both.
First I put the shifter into a vise and twisted off the black tube.
I then cut off 2.25" off of the black tube and then took the shifter to a muffler shop.
I had them cut 2.25" off the top, and then cut a notch at the middle of the two bends. With the notch there, I was able to weaken the shifter enough so I could bend it about 15 degrees so now the shifter pointed straight up in the neutral position, instead of leaning back. Then the muffler shop welded the notch back together.
Now, I found a washer that fit over the shifter, and into the black tube and welded it into place... only onto the black tube so now it will slide back onto the shifter.
I put all the rubber boots back into place and siliconed the black tube over the shifter. Just like stock but 4 inches shorter and no leaning back angle.
I love it!
See, it stands straight up now in the neutral position... equal throws forwards and backward.
