I have thought for a while you need cam gears. I probably do for mine too. I will check to see what was shaved off mine.

Nobody has mentioned anything about timing. Does the ecu pull timing when it detects something amiss with the cam timing?

Got my ebc spec R install today and will be testing it out tomorrow. I think i am running pig rich with that walbro and still have the j tube installed. i need to install my afpr soon.

Hal, it has been suggested to me that the crank pulley is off from real 0..... I'm going to be pulling the balancer off saturday or sunday to see. I will probably reset this thing with a degree wheel and see what happens.

"Might" be off from 0 ;)

It's just a theory as I can't believe you've gotten the cam timing wrong each time Gixx.

No. The ECU has to detect a noise from the sensor. He wont pre-ignite if he doesnt have full cylinder pressure.

You need air/fuel ratio, compression, and spark timing to get combustion.

How does the spark look? Bright blue/white, or more like a yellow? Yellow is a weaker spark.

edit: and for fucks sake, get the engine timing right

LOL old school knowledge SBC's used to do it a LOT so you never relied on the stock timing mark without verifying it first.

yes.....0 every time

It has a brand new key in it, so the balancer must be toast....

so....someone verify, I do need to set my IGN timing to 15 degrees....right? That could be part of the problem, because apparently, by my logic, I have only been running 5 degrees of advance....?

Gixx: Scribe and paint in bright color a new line like IJ said to do.

If the STOCK MARK was at 15 deg, then in theory yes you would be at 10 deg of timing.

I told you the cams were off. Crosses fingers.

:p
