My speedometer needle

It hops up and down. I dont know how else to more accurately describe it lol. Instead of steadily going up when I accelerate, it'll wiggle up and down as I go, and when i cruise at speeds lower than about 35mph it wiggles all the time.

Do I have a bad sensor somewhere in the dash or something?

Its a speedometer cable. Very common on these cars. It's going to need to be replaced soon.

The only hard part is getting the longer piece through the firewall. Other than that its pretty straight foward.

It runs from the back of the cluster through the firewall behind the engine and down to the passenger side of the transmission. Theres 2 pieces. The part that goes on the transmission is like 20-30 bucks if i remember correctly. I think it was around the $100 range to replace the whole thing.

It's very likely.

I also have an issue with needle bounce below 35 and a very erratic cruise control above 50, so I'll also look into this procedure.

Driftmotion sells the speedometer cables. I got mine from there, good price too. ~92 + ship for longer cable, shorter cable depends on if it's auto or manual.

It's going to be a pain to replace, but well worth it.

You could try this one, but be prepaired to source a good cable (didn't work for me, cable still snapped in two shortly afterwards. First the smaller one, then the longer one, then even the swapped metal MK2 supra smaller one:3d_frown: ).
