So....let me set the scene.

A woman dials 911 because her husband is having a heart attack.
Obviously a life-threatening issue.

Within minutes, the Ambulance is rushing to get there...

Lets say, half way there, a kid on a bike goes across the street and the ambulance hits the kid on the bike. He is concious, banged up pretty bad & definately needs medical attention.

Well, here is what I'd wonder. What would the paramedics do?
Time is ticking away for this guy with a heartattack, but yet, a kid is laying on the ground injured. Do they stop and help the kid or say %!@$ you, get out of the way?

Sure, it would be easy to say, "They can just call backup and continue to pursue the man with a heartattack"...but lets me honest...who knows how long "back up" could take.

If you were put on the spot, what would you do?

Any other similar situations or anything like this that you've experienced, discuss! I'm in a thinking mood tonight...:icon_razz

Theres always two EMTs on an ambulance.

Drop one off to assist the kid.

Go pick up the heart attack.

Stabilize the guy.

Go pick up kid.

Two for one.

Thank you thank you! I'll be here all week.

You'd have to help the kid first. Maybe put him in the ambulance and work on him and when you get to the other house do cpr on the heart attack victim. If the kid had life threatening injuries, you'd have to take him to the hospital and call another ambulance for the heart attack victim.

There is no claim that the representation just given is better than representation you can get from other lawyers.

Okay smartie pants. :D What if there are more than 1 person involved in an "unexpected" accident?

Or...we can cancel out the kid on a bike thing and make it something more serious with multiple people. I don't know...It would just be awkward...and there could be other situations that would change that quickly.

Am I talking out of my head? :)

You cant leave the scene of the accident because you would be fleeing the scene of the accident, you have to stay where you hit the kid or kids until the OTHER authorities arrive so they can get the info needed to sue your ass otherwise you'll pick up the old dead guy thats lived his life in time to get arrested by the popos for a hit and run.

save the kid, call for help to get the old dude.

What are the chances of hitting that kid when there are big flashing lights on the ambulance.. Whouldn't that kid hear and move by the time it got close to him? Just a thought.

considering the ambulance is hit, it wont arrive within a reasonable time, and then another ambulance will be tied up, cause they went to the accident, or do they send a 3rd ambulance to the heart attack victim's house...?

im saying can she sue if they take forever, especially if the guy dies?

Well ladies, forget the fine details then. Think of the basic concept that an ambulance has an occurance with something while on an emergency run that puts them between a rock and a hardplace on what to do.

Sure, the likelyness of a kid going out infront of an ambulance is pretty rare....so lets say a 16 year old kid with 424262465 subs in the back of his mad tyt3 y0 Scion xB doesn't hear it and goes through an intersection and gets hit and his badly injured. There. More likely to happen.

But still, just think of the main idea that the ambulance were to get involved in something while on their way to save someone. Talk about being put on the spot...
