I was just wondering on opinions with what i should do with it. It has 176,XXX Km's on it. The head gasket was replaced about 2 months ago. It is an Auto though :3d_frown:

What i've noticed is the Heat gauge Isn't working :S same with the Oil Pressure gauge, Im hoping these are just sensors or something that can easily be fixed. has anyone else had problems with these areas? also, I was told that i should get a Metal Head Gasket, as it saves a lot of hassle in the long run. I was wondering about how much they cost and how much Labour would probably be to get it put in, as i am a Rookie to engines and I don't have much for equipment. Any help you could give me would be Greatly appreciated. Thanks and I Can't wait to start posting all over this site :D

It depends on what type MHG you want, usually I think $100-200. Labor wise, you are going to have your block and head machined and lapped to the RA specs for the MHG. So, it isn't that cheap.

The sensors my just be unplugged if it had a recent HG replacement. The oil sending unit is down below exhaust manifold. It's difficult to reach on a turbo model, easy of n/a's. The temp gauge is on the thermostat housing. good luck. very nice clean car by the way.

If it's running good, don't mess with the engine. Wait till it blows before tearing it down. Upgrade the elbow off the turbo and put a 3 in exhaust on it, then leave it alone.

that's what i figured. Upwards in the thousand range? or more in the hundreds?

Also, what's a good MHG Company to look for?

labor wont be too much it was $850 to do everything to my engine (that includes building, balancing, and blueprinting it)

Sensor for water tempurature is a spade clip on the thermostat housing.

Oil pressure is on the passenger side of the engine block, close to the front, near the bottom. The sending unit itself is gold in color and should have a rubber boot over it. You might have trouble reaching it without removing the accordion hose as you still have your power steering.

Umm, yeah it seems to come on as soon as i start the car :S but they did just take the engine out so maybe when they were putting it back in they switched the thing by accident.
