Thats an extravagant frame Ian. Did you dream it up yourself?

You should make me a really awesome sproket for the crankset I'm gonna get one day :p
LOL it was an evolution of an idea (that was frame #5)

Thats impressive, what is the frame made of?

It weighs just a little more than my 30 year old once yellow jersey bearing bike. And yours is a home made full suspension bike lol

6061T6 aluminium

I couldn't find a tubeset the right lengths so I bought 4mm wall heavy pipe plugged the end filld it with sand plugged the other end and turned it so it's 1.3mm at the welds and 1.1mm 50mm down from the welds for the rest of each tube.

I machined out the insides of the head tube and bottom bracket tube and made my own chrome moly bottom bracket ;)

It has a 3 speed rear hub instead of triple rings on the front so it's still full 24 speed.

IJ. do you mind if I ask your background / area of work / study? How the hell did you end up with such good fabrication skills AND technical knowledge... That bike is just crazy.... My mouth is hanging open.

To the OP: Cool fixed gear. I am building a project road bike at the moment, but I'm too much of a girl so it will have gears. I have owned two SS mountain bikes though, and taken them on trails with geared riders. Best fun ever. :)

hahah enthusiastic amateur. I was asking because I'm about to graduate as a mech. eng. & have slowly been collecting tooling etc. for my own little projects. There's nothing amateur about your work, you've got some crazy skills and I just wondered where you might have picked them up. PM me if you'd rather. Nicely side-stepped, though. :)

Big Wang Bandit:I wish I had friends who road bikes like me but out here in jersey nobody rides bikes here only kids(thos days are over for me)bmx junkys(thos days are also over for me)and old men.

You usually will find biking friends in the oddest places. Around here its super hip to have an old bike, let a lone a super old fixed gear, so I meet people easily(usually for the wrong reasons) lol.

I wish I could go ride right now, but its almost time to go to work.

LOL it was a serious answer :)

I'm a bit OCD and I get "into" things.

(I retrofitted my own CNC Mill, up until then I had never been hands on with a CNC)

That shit is crazy mate. :aigo: I'll let the good fellow have his thread back now. :)
