I am getting back into the supra community after being away for a couple years. Here is the car I got:
87' NA chassis
1JZ motor sitting in it(no mounts)
R154
New radiator
New IC pipes with greddy BOV
New intercooler
all for $1500

I am really excited to get some BIC mounts and tranny stuff, then get it up and running. Here are some current pics

The one part I am dreading is bolts/fasteners, I don't have any extra and there are a lot of parts here that don't have any bolts with them.

Nice buy! I remember when mine looked like that I thought I would never finish but it really pays off when you start it for the first time and see the finish of all of your hard work. LOL if you need a car to look at for where everything goes I will drive out to you and I also have a lot of extra bolts and hardware left from my clip if you need it.

How did you get all that for 1500? Lucky =]

Car has been sitting for a couple years, the guy wanted to get rid of it. :naughty:

supradaddy0803: You're like an hour and a half away from me! That would be great if you could come out sometime, especially if you bring some bolts :biglaugh:

Nihiliz: It depends on what you buy with the 1jz. This one came with the map sensor, igniter, ECU and most of the wiring harness. I am also converting to R154 while I do the swap so I need a couple parts for that. I also need new IC piping, I got a new IC, intake piping and filter, Power steering line, engine mounts, downpipe (I am doing full 3" right away) and I am sure there are other things that I will need as well.

According to BIC's website I have about a 2-3 week wait for mounts, so I will be starting on the wiring and some other small stuff while I wait.

2jz is more work than the 1JZ

I like the 1jz because its un-common and it is a supra engine.

the 7m has 2 major failing points imo, the head gasket and to a lesser extent rod bearings. There is plenty of info on how to do a head gasket the right way. Rod knock is also fairly avoidable.

Each engine has a lot of character, none of them are weak engines.

The reason why there is mad flameing for it is because they answer the same question over and over again. After a while of answering the same thing wouldnt you get tired. I know there is a how to thread here for it because I have seen them. The 2JZ is a nice motor dont get me wrong but with a little work you can get the same preformance out of a 1JZ and still pay less. 2JZ parts are expensive but they share alot with the 1JZ becuase side by side they look almost the same cept smaller turbos and .5 liter less. But I am not trying to talk anyone out of it because I wanted to do one as well I just weighed how much money I would end up spending and the 1JZ was cheaper. I think my next pruchase will be to buy a mark 4 and put a 2JZGTE in it bacause the n/a mark 4's are cheaper but still up there in price.

Very good point.. all of the engines are good engines.. i dont favor a single one... i love them all equally, because they all, afterall, are made by toyota =)

edit: i would like to have a 1g-gte though!
