Wow that really reminds of how i got my MKIII sept my mines in alot of better condiotion, I also got mine for 400 bucks, and the front bumber is the exact same way missing the same fog light. Me and a friend just bondod over the vent holes but it was alot worse. The empty vent spot is just screaming BIG FRONT MOUNT. And the previos owner also pulled a Fast and Furious with the TARGA. Your supra is like my supras turbo brother.

Update:

Evidence of mice infestation. No living mice found.

Ant infestation.

Definately a flood car. Surface rust in spare tire well.

Key only works drivers door and ignition, not the hatch or passenger side door. Key cannot be made from the VIN because the car is too old. Then I found the hatch release buried beneath the makeshift carpet, so no new key needed.

Today I got all the parts out of the interior and pulled the makeshift carpet out. I need to buy an extension cable so I can get a vacuum to it. The car is at friends house on a gravel pad behind his house, so I can't wash it or clean it up like I want too. I have no place to park it at my apartment. I will be using another friends garage to do the swap, but I can't keep it there now because his roommate will get pissed.

I also don't have the internet right now, and I'm posting this from my friends house.

This is a great time -- the best time -- to figure out if you will indeed be able to do all that work and complete it, or part it out and make $$$. Not trying to tell you what to do at all, but just saying that you should consider all relevant information and choose one coarse. I have seen people attempt to put a machine together, invest time and money, and then say, "I should just part it out," and lose money and time on their attempt.

Assess what you have, confirm if you will have the workspace needed (that garage) for as long as you need it, then decide and what will work for you.

Just some thoughts.

I'm sticking with it. The only concerns I have right now are the ants and the surface rust in the spare wheel well. I'm just going to vacuum up the ants. The surface rust - I'm going to take some steel wool and sandpaper to the spare wheel well, then I'm going to POR15 it and call it a day. Oh and the paint...I'm just going to drive around with the original paint until I can afford a paint job.

ask arround there may be someone or someplace that can do sodium blasting, its like sandblasting justwith baking soda and people can just drive a little trailer to your car and blast it outside,

how far down are you stripping this, like to a completely bare shell free of all parts or just emptying hte interior and wiring.

Yep, the only reason why I said that -- and maybe perceived as sounding negative by some -- is because I have used a garage to paint a car once and then it became unavailable short of completion. It sucks not having your own place and garage. I would confirm with the friend letting you use the garage and say, “Before I spent all my money, I have to know for sure if I will get to use the garage for X amount of time. It is OK if I can’t, but I just need to know for sure now.”

G/L with the project.

I'm just stripping the interior, except the dash. Paint won't come for a while it looks like.

I'm thinking about taking the fenders off though and cleaning behind them. How hard is it taking the fenders off and putting them back on? Keep in mind I've never done anything like that before.

Also, the drivers door sags horribly and looks like I'll need to take the fender off to get to the hinge. :dunno:

I cleaned up the rust some in the spare well and there is some rust through, but only 1-2 pin holes.

Yeah it's cool to use his garage for a week or so to do the swap, and he'll let me use it til I'm finished. His roommate (which I'm also friends with, but don't know very well) doesn't want the car sitting in the driveway for over a month.

as for the spare tire area being rusted,i wouldn't worry about that.the hatch seals and tail light rubber seals leak after time.if you find a supra that hasn't been garaged much chances are its rusted in the spare tire hole

Eh, more rust than I thought. About 6 small holes in the spare well. I cleaned it up and sprayed it with rustoleum, it looks much better.

Just got internet in my new apartment, so update pics should be up tomarrow.

The car is looking so much better, it's great. Interior wise at least...
