Well I just got back from a 17 hour round trip picking this shell up in Tennessee. The interior's trashed, the bumpers are trashed, I think it was in a flood because there is a sand/mud cleaners sticker in the drivers door jamb and smells like shit inside, the targa headliner is burgundy- looks like someone pulled a fast and the furious, and there's a rust spot on the targa, faded paint on the top, hood is painted black.

You all get the idea. I've got a long project ahead. Just no money at the moment. If my Montero Sport sells soon I should be going 1JZ.

I'm going to finish the trip up to Morgantown, I made a pitstop at my parents house in Charleston. I still have about 160 miles of steep hills to go. I hope the Monty is up to it. I can't believe I made the trip back ~450 miles without any problems.

OK, couple questions.

Is anybody parting out a gray interior? PM me if you are, I need a couple small parts.

You can see the door moldings in one of those pics. It's missing that little strip that runs along the bottom. Am I going to have to replace that whole trim, or can I just buy that piece?

The car came with a couple extra differentials. Supposedly one is a 4.10 Torsen, how can I verify that it is and how much could I sell it for?

How hard is it to replace the headliner on the targa? I heard somewhere that is was a real bitch to replace.

I don't think they come separately, but I may be scheming something soon.
I just don't see throwing mouldings out because of a strip -- there has to be some kind of quality fix.

Yeah, I don't think they come seperate either. I just need the drivers door and drivers quarterpanel moldings.

I was thinking of taking all the moldings off, then sanding them down flat to eleminate that piece, then paint them and put them back on. That would be a lot of work though...

Looks like a good starting spot. Hope the interior isn't too bad

Interior is trashed. I think it may be an ex-flood car. It has no carpet, no rear seats, and the front seats are not the originals.

Really? I got this car from Murfreesboro, TN. The guy made it seem to be in nicer condition on the phone, I was a little disappointed when I got down there. But....I was already there, I needed a shell, and MKIII's are pretty rare around here.

how much did you end up paying for it?

Well we had agreed on $400, but I ended up having to spend the money on rent for my apartment. So I traded a Sony Vaio laptop for it and the tow dolly. The laptop was probably worth about $1000, but when I got down there windows wouldn't boot for some reason, so....

So theres no engine at all in it and what are your plans with it.

I think i might paint my sawblades that color also.

No engine, no transmission. I'm planning to swap in a 1JZ with Jewishjalopi's help (he's from sf, don't know if he posts here), but I have to sell my SUV first, and he goes back to Cali the beginning of August, so I really need to get my SUV sold. I can't do the swap myself.

Oh, sorry for the multiple posts like this but my mouse is messed up and I have problems copy and pasting, so this was much easier for me. :kaboom:

That would be the targa top, I think someone pulled a fast and the furious. The car's not bad, I just need a lot of interior parts and new bumpers. I'm stripping out the rest of the interior later today, where else should I look for rust?

wheel wells is a must and if you think she took a swim in a flood then look in the spare tire area. i hate to say this but under the trim might be rust, it can make pockets and trap in water and salt.
