i went to work he wanted to work on the supra and he knows a few things about working on cars from hanging around me a lil bit. i told him if he could place the motor on the motor mounts before i come home ill give him $50. well the lil knucklehead did it but said he jacked up the oil pan to lift the motor to do it. Immediately i ran outside to take a look and this is how it looks.

doesnt look too bad but replace it. an ounce of preperation beats the pound of pain you will pay later to swap the pan.

+1 on beating him with the timing belt

well we all know how bad the stock 7m oiling is. im just afraid that the oil pan is bent up right where the oil pump pickup is which will result in low or no oil pressure,. if i started it and run and drive and oil pressure is good then everything is good rite?

I would not start my car like that. Unless you bolted everything and plugged in everything, in reality, how long would it take to pull the motor back out. I personally can pull the motor from everything plugged in and running to out in about 30-45 minutes.(With help from 1 person)

two of the wheels on t he engine lift that i bout to do the swap broke and i returning it yesterday and instead of gettin another one i just got a full refund cause i figured i woulkdnt need it anymore no time soon. and everything is 99.9% bolted in for it too start. only thing left is to plug in the battery and do the power lines for the started, a few grounds, sparkplugs wires and add fluids thats it. im actually at the point that i dont even wanna pull the motor again, ive put so many hrs into this that ill just pay my local shop to swap oil pans.

Do like the redneck rodnock fix, support the engine with some 2x4's accross the shock mounts with a chain, remove the subframe, and replace the pan

I seriously HATE crawling around under a car and working from my back. I would pull the motor long before I would drop the subframe to replace the pan. From my memory the stock oil pickup is pretty close to the bottom of the pan, BUT Ive seen pans mangled worse than that and not cause oil starvation.

Cletusmod alternative if you have a welder: Being careful not to push shavings up into the pan, drill a hole in the center of the pushed up section. Using a slide hammer and screw in tip, pop the dent back out like you were doing body repair. Then once its pulled back out sufficiently, just weld up the hole. I would think that could be done in a couple hours.

I'm not sure how likely this is though... but it's worth asking.

How much clearance is there between the baffles and the oil pickup? If there's any chance the pickup got hit the pipe could have been creased creating a restriction you may not see until at higher loads.

IMHO............. it fine... the pick up screen on these is so huge and wideopen if you smashed it down to 1/2 from tube it will still have 1/2 x 6 inch of screen still open to oil around the edge of pick up...If you know what the screen looks like.. you might get my drift.. if not find a pic

Now this is just my opinun... :}

CRE, That is seriously unlikey since the damage was done in a no jarring way, meaning it was just pushed up from the weight of the motor and not struck at speed from below. The oil pickup pipe is pretty tough and I think its FAR more likely it would just get pushed over a little rather than crease.

If it were me doing it. I would take the EFI fuse out and crank until it had pressure (as you should do anyway after the motor has been out/apart). If you get pressure under cranking, it should be fine.

This is a stock motor right? nothing ultra high performance?

pull the emgine....the time is not worth the money of a rebuild IMO. i crushed my oil pan the same nite i put my engine in as well......i had to pull the engine and was pissed, but i slept better that night knowing i was on the safe side. listen to IJ, he knows what he's talking about.
