what else would be good is to have the turn signals fade from the inside->out like the ones on the 99-04 Mustang were it goes / then // then /// ive seen it before and it looks really good!

Too bright?

No way, you want them to see you from Airplane cruising height!! And anyway, red does not affect night time vision ;)

He means too bright as in, you dont want a low contrast between park and brake. If you use a variable PWM circuit with them, you could set them to a decent level in the parking mode and have them full brightness when braking.

I'm making major progress on my project. Although manually prototyping and assembling this stuff takes a massive amount of time. I must be into this for well over 40 hours of labor by now. Pics soon to follow this week!

I saw a civic with custom LED tails similar to the lines but they turned on from the outside LEDs first and then moved into the middle, like knight rider. That was really distracting.

At work we design and produce ruggedized flat panel displays for military/aerospace, most are custom sized LCDs with new LED backlights. What does your light guide rail look like? (how are you mounting these in the lenses to direct the light)

Personally what I think would look best would would be using diffusers to smooth out the "dot" look of the LEDs to more resemble a solid block of light. Of course this makes it more difficult to get the color/brightness you want...

If you need any help on the optics/intensity aspect I can ask an optical engineer at work for some advice.

Good luck.

I would go for the full LED like the top pic. I say this because the wonderful thing about LEDs is that you can control them with a microprocessor, and make any type of design that you want (i.e. just the thin line of lights, a moving arrow for the turns, etc). the possibilities are limitless.

That was the price for the 89+

Really?

I clicked on the link and it had a picture of older style tailights and stated $1925.00 for 86-88 tails and that 89+ were not yet available.

That's what I saw. Maybe there is a newer link?

Still too much $$$.
