Use of recovered or virgin is OK in the USA but banned in Canada. Manufacture is banned in both places. The stuff is as common as dirt in Mexico.
So for those in the border states down there, finding a good AC guy to refill things for you might not be a bad idea then...

Thats amazing you can still reuse it. Its still a CFC which is a OZD substance and your EPA allows that... wow! Why even have the EPA monitor it? Like really that is truely ass-backwards

Maybe its all a political scam in order for dupont to cash in on HFC and now HFO not everyone signed the Montreal protocol. The men who discovered the theory of ozone depletion were experts in lasers not stratospheric chemistry.

Really, who knew! There's no significant difference between dichlorodifluoromethane a CFC and1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane a HCF? Interesting, you must not be a chemist. I'll give you a little hint, only one of the above has chlorine in it.

But they are incredibly different! One has chlorine and one doesn't.
+1 Chloroine is the OZD substance In an R12 system, thats why its been converted. R134a just causes green house gases, which is also being phased out.

so, im replacing the compressor, dryer and expansion valve. flushing the lines/condenser the best i can with flush and 150psi air. cleaning the evap out and ill prob do the insulation wrap like mentioned. i have 2 e-fans pulling on the radiator, ill do the foam trick and see what happens.

questions i have, what pressures are yall seeing with these mods on 134? if my high side is still above what youre seeing ill do a pusher.
i do have a 608 but not sure if i want to spend the extra money when i can charge 134 for free, which leads me to question #2, how much more beneficial is r12 compared to 134a?
stupid question #1, how much oil should i put into the compressor and how much should i inject after a vacuum?

thankyou op, FINALLY somone on a forum that really knows ac.
and to the guy from iraq or whatever, assuming you were saying you retrofitted to an orifice tube but called it something else?

has anyone found a stronger blower motor? ill be pulling my dash eventually and check for leaking tubes but i dont get very good airflow, and ive never been in another mk3 to compare, heater/ac/recirc all seem about equally weak.
