I was out smokin a cig on break looking at this riced out honda that was parked.... and a light went off.

We all know those broke honda tuners love to have front mount intercoolers mainly for that race car look.... so.. why not install one that works without the turbo?

So you're asking, huh? Front mount intake, already been done...

What about a front mount radiator? You can get tube and fin intercoolers on ebay for dirt cheap, hell even GReddy are tube and fin, so why not install one up front in your sick ass body kit, remove the chicken wire, and route the piping to the cooling system? Instead of the cool 2.5 in intercooler pipe, just route 1.5in hardline with silicone connectors to the front mount... Bam. Instant front mount "intercooler" on your civic... that's functional.

You'll also get more room in your engine bay with the removal of the radiator from there.

I've already developed a kit, and will be testing it on a civic tonight. The paperwork for copyrights have been submitted. The kit will be forsale for the price of a racing radiator, around $300.

You guys LOL at this idea, but the guy who made the turbonator and K/N front mount intake made some cash.

I'm using a real intercooler, and it will look good haha.

actually doesnt sound like a 1/2 bad idea. only thing i would worry about would be taking a rock to the "intercooler" and draining my coolant

I never seen the idea marketed.

It's a great idea. Not EVERYONE wants a turbo car, but want that intercooler look. The best part is, it's actually functional. People can finally remove the damn chicken wire in their body kit.

The hardest part about this is the electric fan wiring. I'm going to try and make it plug and play to the car harness plug. The trick is just finding 1 or 2 small cooling fans that fit a 8" core. I think sportbike fan's will do the trick.

i dont agree with the idea of a fake looking IC, but i do agree with Ric's idea to make some money. He had an idea, hes going with it, and i hope it gets so popular that koyo, or griffin buys the copy rights from him for a huge amount of cash. Best of luck Ric

Well, it's a 100% real intercooler.. Alot of the cheaper ebay ones are tube and fin water cores. In fact, greddy intercoolers are tube and fin water cores. Bar and Plate probably won't cool as good, as you want resistance with water. A standard 28x10x2.5 $50 ebay intercooler has more volume then most racing import radiators. Also a standard 10in fan fits right on one in the back, get a honda fan pigtail, and boom.. No wiring needed.

The only problem is finding someone to outsource the piping in aluminum that doesn't need me to do a huge volume. I know Lin can do it, but he's famous for stealing ideas and reselling.

I wish i had an autocad program to draw it up for you guys.

LOL, are you sure you can use an intercooler to flow coolant through? I would be afraid of erosion...might be okay though...you'd have to have some kind of reducer to go from 1.5" to 2.5", right?

And why not just use it to cool in the intake charge? Stick a filter on one of the intercooler ports, and route the other port to the intake. :)

99% of the cars on the road use a tube and fin aluminum core. It's the same core, just different end tanks. Yes, you can purchase 2.5 to 1.5 silicone reducers anywhere. Silicone couplers are rated for over 200psi burst pressure and over 300 degree constant use temps. In fact, my 1jzgte upper rad pipe is mandrel bent aluminum with 1.5in silcone couplers. For a radiator cap, any summit or jegs company sells a remote fill adapter as most race car setups use them. It's going to be in the upper hardline that bumps up a hair so it's the highest point in the cooling system to avoid air.

I think it will sell. There was a little old Civic where I used to work, and it had a huge EBay FMIC. Well, one day I saw the car and noticed that it was gone. I asked the kid what happened to it, and he said he pulled it off. I asked if he was running a non-intercooled setup now and he said he never had a turbo on there to begin with.
The poor fool probably overheated because his radiator wasn't getting enough airflow for cooling in Florida's summer.

Just google faux intercooler and you see a ton of people doing this junk. The air intake to me is a much better idea. Id never trust it as my radiator, ontop of that it doesnt look legit. You pop the hood and no radiator, how do they explain that? When you got 50 people calling you about leaking coolant and fried motors, then what?

People seem to use it as a cold air intake which makes more sense to me.

If you want to sell something thats for outside looks only, make a fiberglass plate to look like an intercooler. It will look like a real intercooler, has 0 function and cost a few bucks to make.

When you start talking about functional raditor to look like an intercooler your too far out there. These kids that youd want to sell to already have their racing radiators. Also they want simple bolt on, rerouting cooling lines and stuff goes over their heads.
