IJ and Jetjock - so you're saying the head unit in the console with all the buttons, I will end up needing to replace that to get ANY heat soon? I haven't driven her in a while but I think I was getting mild heat, and pretty decent heat at 85, but its definitely not normal anymore. Plus the climate control "auto" mode was rather lackluster and didn't seem to truly warm things up like I would imagine. For example, say if I set it at 70...cabin temp is in the low 60's probably...it didn't do anything and it definitely wasn't 70 inside (engine was warm)...I had to turn it up to 72 or so to get it to start regulating temps.

What I understand is that the HVAC unit is the servo/motor unit that controlls cabin airflow, and the motors are controlled directly from the head unit (with all the buttons, like the stereo head unit I assume)??

I don't know what the amplifier is, or where it is.

Yes where the buttons are, there's an amplifier circuit inside that sometimes fails for whatever reason and as this controls the mixer door servo you can have a perfectly functioning heater tap and vsv but still have cold air, even cable tieing the heater tap doesn't fix it.

The 2nd Amplifier is for the AC and is the blue box above the dash but has nothing to do with Heat.

^^^i blew out the heater core with some air and then made sure it was full, but it did not help at all. i think my heater amp is out and not letting heat go through.

I now have a new concern with my radiatior overflowing while the car warms up, i think it has air or the system or is plugged.`it did this while i had the front end of the car up as high as i could. so i tried to fill the system as good as i could and have been driving it. never over heats NEVER.

The radiator overflows with the radiator cap on? Could be a faulty cap or over pressure. If it's overpressure it's overheating, what temp gauge are you using?

Thanks...I guess I'll look for a new Climate Control head unit then...:icon_mad: Kinda wanted a 89+ one anyway, the buttons are nicer.:icon_razz

that is...assuming the plugs and harness wiring is the same.

Verify that everything else is working first though ;)

mmph...yeah.

i don't know where to begin though, truthfully. You mean go about testing for clogs in system?

I can hear water rushing through the heater core (not BHG...just filled, still working on the bubbles)...so that's not clogged AFAIK.

Check that the VSV and Heater tap open for starters, move the AC controls from Hot to Cold and watch if the Servos move.

Sounds good, thanks :)

I'll give it a listen for servo movement, since my low fan speed is shot, and I can turn the system 'on' without the blower kicking on. I know there's a fix for that too but I haven't gotten around to it...
