I will admit that I have small hands, but I don't know how some of you do it. I am trying to access the throttle body and ISC coolant lines. I can get a feel for them just fine, but that's about all I can do.

How the hell is one supposed to get a set of pliers under there and unclip them? It looks like it takes neuro-surgeon precision and a wire camera to accurately get at these little bastards.

If you haven't guessed, I have a coolant leak coming from either of those hoses, and I would like to by-pass the ISC and throttle body connections while installing a filter in the process.

you unbolt the the ISC first and then the hoses are easier to get to.
Your best friend is a long nose pliers with a angled tip. It has been my frined for a few years.

Only way I could do it was to take the throttle body off. It's that or unbolt the upper plenum and tilt it back.

Yes that's what I'm doing. By passing the ISC and throttle body and connecting them directly. I am installing a filter, though.

I recently purchased another supra and I've been working on it, cleaning it up, getting ready to do maintenance before I run it, doing an inspection of things.

It has a problem with running, when I start it up it sometimes kinda of chokes and dies, unless you give it gas (out of gear). When you put it in gear and you try to feather the clutch it will hesitate and shut off so it always has to be given extra gas to ensure it doesn't cut off.

I think it is the afm, I did the test but I didn't get an infinity reading when I connected the first two terminals (E1 and FC). I have a replacement one I might get to install tomorrow if I get some time before (or after) work.

Ok, I know this is getting long, but to get to the relevant information. I was testing the ISC valve today because the previous owner told me he had traced the problem I'm having to either the TPS or ISC valve. I'm not sure how he came to this, but I was doing the test in the TSRM.

It says the valve should move towards the close position or open position depending on what sequence I do (S4-S3-S2-S1-S4, or S1-S2-S3-S4-S1). Each time I put the wire to each of the terminals I hear a click, but I don't hear anything move.

My questions are:
Is there any insight to what my problem could be?..Am I on the right track with the AFM?

Is the ISC valve movement inaudible?..I don't have it off of the car, do I need to remove it and look for movement rather than listen for it?

I don't have a thickness gauge so I haven't done any testing for the TPS yet, could it be the culprit?

I don't mean to hijack the thread, it's just something I've been working on today and this thread seems relevant so I took the opportunity to post up here.

If you have any more questions, you can go ahead and ask. There may be something I haven't included that you want to know. I haven't driven the car much because I got it on Saturday and it isn't plated or insured, just on my driveway for now. I live at the end of a cul-de-sac so my mini test runs happen in there. I did check for codes btw and there isn't anything, yet.
