I just bought a 1987 supra turbo. its got a jdm 7mgte motor wit 63000 miles on it. Everythings stock. i smoked a 3rd generation prelude si off the line, and i killed a 1995 integra ls from a 40 mph rolling start (my mechanic's car!) I kept up with a chrysler 300. He thought he was gona kill me on the freeway. We were going like 50 mpph and he stomped on it. He looked back, thinking that he blew my doors off. He looked out his driver window only to see me keeping up with him. he got pissed off and jumped off the freeway! My hardest race so far, believe it or not came against a beefy chevy pickup truck. He had intake, exhaust, and a performance chip. From a 40 mph start, we were bumper to bumper. he couldnt lose me and i couldn't lose him. At the next light, we took off from a full stop. He murdered me! He turned out to be a pretty coo kid though. can anybody give me some tips on gettin my supra faster without spending alotta money right now? It would really help. thanks

Stock supra... not too shabby. I understand you are from California but, exhaust work is necessary. Cooleeze makes a decent downpipe and test pipe(to replace your stock cat) and bolt on your favorite cat back and you will love the results. Do a nice cone air filter(K&N, Apex'i...) and you will love it! Have fun.

Pacesetter doesn't make "headers" for a turbo supra, ditch that idea.
Fuck the hi flow cat, get a test pipe.
Blitz NUR Spec has to be modified to fit correctly.
Save your money, port you own head (with practice first).
You want a DP with an integrated turbo elbow (cooleeze, BIC DDP, etc.)
Save your money on the HKS kit, get a Do-It-Yourself kit from driftmotion.com, you can route the piping better with that than any pre made kit.
Check out the chevy inner valve spring mod.
Why are you going .40 over? You don't need that. Only overbore if the engine tolerances are too far out of spec for a re-ring job.
Connecting rods, in no particular order: Eagle, Pauter, Carillo, etc.
Mustang throttle body. Why are you spending needless money when you can get the same or better results for cheaper?
Clevite bearing aren't made anymore, they are a different brand in the clevite box.
1cc of fuel for ever 1HP.
Steer far away from electric fans. Too many people on here have wasted their high HP engines due to the fans burning up or shorting out. The stock fan is good for any HP the 7M-GTE can push.
No underdrive crank pulley. ATI harmonic balancer is the way to go.
Aeromotive Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator kit.
DO NOT put a Fuel Cut Defencer on the car, that is a blown engine waiting to happen.
White Line sway bars make the only front and rear adjustables for the MKIII supra.
ARZ makes a front and rear Wilwood brake kit for the MKIII. Check ou the vendor's section.
MAFT-Pro full install kit.

Welcome to the forums, you've got a lot to learn, start researching before you buy stuff.

BTW, check out HeadGames for headwork over titan, i have heard nothing but good things about them.

I disagree. I made decent of power with a 3" high flow and my only mods were exhaust and intake. The only reason to go with a test pipe is if you hate the environment, want your car to smell like shit or are making a dedicated race car. To me, the minimal gains you would get from removing the cat would never outweigh the negatives.

If this guy really wants to make a race car thats fine...but I think it's going to be a while before the car gets to that level and in the mean time I'm sure he wants to be able to drive it on the street.

Holy shit! That list looks something like I had in mind the day I got my supra......but start adding prices next to them and theres your problem. You should really look at some of the other members' builds here and get an accurate idea of what it is you will do with your supra and do it in stages, because unless you sell your house, it may take a while for you to gather up that kind of $$$$.

Oh and btw.....you cant do head bolts and head studs, it's one or the other. And I would recommend going with head studs.

Im actually just getting into cars and tryin to fix them up. Im actually gettin ready to go to college to learn more and get a degree so I can open a shop and do it for a living. so any advice I get from anybody on here will help. Keep it coming in! Thanks

Turbo cars don't have headers, they have exhaust manifolds. Pacesetter makes a header for a non turbo supra, something you will definitely not want to put on your turbo engine, you'll be even slower than a NA supra then... BIC DDP is a BIC (name of the company) Divorced Down Pipe.

Can you wrote me out a setup so that I can run 10 to 13 seconds on the streets?

You want a 10 second supra? Check out upgradedsupra's 11.00 second ride. Repeat what he has and you'll have the potential for an 11.00 second supra. Cheap is not in a supra's vocabulary. You're either going to have to face that fact now, or quit while you're ahead. You cheap out on this car and it will bite you in the ass and leave you stranded on the side of the road.

You've been forewarned ;).

Shim your wastegate for 30-50 bonus hp, depending on supporting mods

EDIT: anyone know a shop tha will make a custom equal-length manifold and match it with some aftermarket cams?

EDIT2: Might wanna go with the Whiteline sways, this is my car with ST front sway

10 to 13 is a huge range. I plan to be in the 13's (mid to high) with my setup and I dont have 1/3 the stuff on your expensive list. Just do your exhaust, downpipe, intake and turn the boost up to 11 or 12. Go to the track with some decent tires and report back. I think you will be surprised by the numbers. After this point...shit starts getting expensive. Also at this point is when you should work on the driver mod. You can cut your times down ALOT with just practice. There is no substitute for seat time.
