Ok so check it out. Yesterday I was getting ready to head out to get my inspection sticker. I unlock the door and open it...f'king car alarm goes off. So, I stick the key in the ignition and turn it...it goes off.

Here's the kicker...my car won't start anymore because of it. I've tried fidgiting with the lock on the door, unlocking the other door, unplugging the battery for 30 mins. Nothing works. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do before I lose my nerve with the car again?

my 89 done the same thing and we took the door panel off on the passenger side and we took two wires from the lock on the same side, we spliced two wires and touched them together and it reset it. I know one of them was green and i can't remember the color of the other wire. That's just what someone told us to do and it worked and every once in awhile i have to touch the wires to reset it again but not too often though.
suprarcr89 on here could probably tell you exacty what to do.
Me and him done mine.

i met a guy today who has an 87 right now with an 87 parts car as well. he said he'd sell me the sensor for the drivers side for 5 bucks so. Imma probably just do that and replace the mofo and be done with it.

you have a couple of options here. if the door sensor is NOT fried:

close the door with it unlocked
put your key in the door, then lock it.
wait a minute or so, then unlock it.

when you cycle locking/unlocking the door like this, it is supposed to reset the alarm.

or you could go under the hood of the car, find the two wires that go to the hood sensor (so if someone pops your hood, the alarm sounds) cut them, and splice them together. this will make the alarm think that there is a door open, in which case the alarm cannot be armed.

this is the route i took:

go under the dash on the driver's side. attached to the steering column way up under the dash near the firewall is the alarm computer.

here's a pic of where it is, its called "theft deterrent computer":
http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TEWD/MK3/manual.aspx?S=Main&P=15

i completely removed my Theft Deterrant Computer, as there is no need for it to be in the car if i've bypassed the alarm function!

there is a wire you must cut. it is a blue wire with an orange stripe. cut it near the connector, and make an extension to the nearest ground, and ground it well!!!

once you pull out the computer, and ground the blue wire with the orange stripe, your alarm problems will be solved.

if, however you forget to ground that wire, your starter will not engage when you turn the key. it is the ground for the starter that the alarm cuts to disable it.

chances are the tabs on your drivers side door for the alarm are broken.

LOCK the car
Wait 1 minute
Unlock from Passanger side Door

now you say you've left the battery unplugged for 30 mins. Not sure whats going on here. It should've reset by doing that.

my car has a second ignition looking thing which i assume is an alarm key thing, is this stock, or aftermarket alarm? there are stickers for like 4 different alarms on the windows.

Edit (deleted my enitire post hehe) I Just cut 2 hood sensors, joined them. Took out the Stock alarm box around steering, and grounded the orange/blue wire. CAR STARTED!! I recommend this for anyone wanting to get rid of their stock system

jack up the car, find the brown wire with a male spade connector going into the starter. pull it out. make a new, longer (same gauge) wire with male spade connector, and plug it into the starter where the old one was, then ground the other end.

Chances are if the tab is broken, somebody tried to slim jim into the car, and the anti-theft shut down the starter like it supposed to.

The tab is put where it is easily broken off the latching mechanism.

Do you really want to remove it?

Dont forget your arm/disarm inside the drivers door could be shot. So like above said with the doors unlocked close all doors and hood/trunk... than lock the passenger door with the key, than unlock the passenger door with the key and than go to the drivers and try starting the car...

Another quick fix is to take out the DOME (89+) or Radio no1 (86-88) fuse under the hood. What this does is diengages what I guess whould be called the RAM (for the computer savy) for the ECU and mkes it "forget" that the alarm was engaged. The down fall, especially in my 87T is that it, like it says takes out the radio along with clock. Im guessing the 89+ will lose there dome light.

unless it changed on later models, resetting the ECU is done by pulling the 15A EFI fuse in the engine bay fuse box... and the car wont run without it...

Whats fun is when you have two alarms on the car both going off at the same time. When I frist got it I had a problem with it and couldn't drive it for 3 days till I figured out how to reset it. Oh and the whole one minute I havn't had to wait a minute on mine just go lock it and unlock twice from the pass door. Don't forget to scream and yell cause its pissing you off too.:evil2:

Easiest way to groung the wire is to jumper pin 5 to pin 13 on the theft comp connector A. This makes for a clean delete, and if you ever wanted to return the car to a stock (functioning...) alar, you just remove the jumper and plug in the theft deterrent computer.
Page_125.gif

As you can see in the next pic, the computer supplies the ground to the starter relay via pin 13. The hard ground for the computer is pin 5, jumper the two and the car will always start.

Try it and all of your woes will be gone.
