i have full IC piping, FMIC, and a blitz DD BOV. It's hardly noticable at all when i release boost pressure. My friend in his 1.8T jetta only has a bosch BOV, no IC piping and only FMIC. His is very audible, MUCH louder then my blitz. I'm using the sound as a guideline because maybe i have a boost leak??? maybe the BOV is defective??? maybe i have the spring set too soft?? i could be potentially damaging my turbo slowly because the blitz is hardly noticable. When i mean hardly noticable i mean i have to even turn off my radio just to hear it.

What's the first thing i should check??

I had an HKS SSQV BOV and it has different inserts the purple makes it unaudible unless u run over 18psi or have radio off, see if anyone has that issues some BOV's r quite maybe thats ur deal, if it isnt working u should hear compressor surge and if its leaking boost u should hear wierd screeeeching noises.

Im not sure what this could be, but i have heard that the blitz bov isnt a very good bov for low boost because of the design, sometimes you dont build enough pressure to push the piston to release it, therefore only letting a little of that pressure out, which could explain the quiteness of your bov. Also i had very bad boost leaks, i was only running 2-3 lbs of boost, and it still blew off quite loud, so i dont think it would be boost leaks but i am not completely sure.

There are a lot of factors in BOV noise. BOV design, location, venting to atm or recirc, air filter, amount of boost, etc. If your BOV was malfunctioning or set too firm it would probably be very noticeable as chatter. Set too soft it could be a boost leak. I don't have very much experience with the Blitz DD so I'm not quite sure how loud it should be. If the lack of noise really bothers you, you could try another BOV manufacturer. TurboXS, HKS and GReddy are all pretty loud.

i don't care much for loudness. I just want to know if it's releasing properly and i guess i can judge that by listening to it. Right now i'm running stock CT26 @ 12 PSI. I'm vented to the atmosphere and the BOV is located where the stock one used to be although i have FULL IC pipes.

Funny thing is, even at higher boost levels it is less audible. it could be my BIC DDP but if i boost around without allowing the flapper on the CT to open the BOV is more audible then when i boost hard and all i hear is exhaust gases escaping. But on somne videos i've heard supras with the DDP and you can clearly hear the BOV venting after a WOT run. I think i'm going to try tightening it a bit more.

alright so i tightened my BOV screw a bit more. Now my car doesn't hit as much boost as quick as before. Before i could hit 12 PSI like nothing but no it just SLOWLY creeps up, if even creeps up to 12 PSI. I can confirm this on my DEFI gauges that allow me to record up to 3 mins of driving habits.

As well before with the screw looser my car would reach postitive boost EASILY with very slight gas pedal pressure. Now with it tighter i have to put the foot to the floor a bit more in order to even reach positive boost.
