My automatic was faster.............

Hey fellow supra owners. Just wanted to vent. I installed my five speed and have been babying my clutch for fivehundred miles so I could go racing Saturday night. My wife and I went to Bama Dragway and I was sorely disappointed. I know it's going to take a while to learn how to launch properly, and when to shift, but here are the three times I ran. I don't know how to scan them and then upload right now so I will just type them in. The reason I'm posting this in the kills section is I did outrun an 06 GT in the last race. He has a 75 shot of nos,but he didn't spray.

I raced twice and won both times, but I was still disappointed in the results. I outran a 1989 Firebird and an 06 Mustang GT. The track was real slick, and I kept spinning thruough first and second. My auto would never spin so I got down the track a little quicker, but the transmission couldn't handle it. It started slipping real bad. Hence, the five speed swap. Maybe after I race a few more times I'll get to launching better. I was happy with my trap speed the last race though. My best time in an auto was 8.73 at 83.49 mph. Thanks for reading and I am open to suggestions...................lol

by looking at your mph at the 1/8th mile your car should be doing alot better.
i ran daniels supra supraswole on here and ran a 9.4 @75mph in an 1/8th most cars doing 85 run mid to low 8's. just got to get used to it and get the 60ft down lower and you willl be mid to low 8's no problem. good luck and keep us posted.

daniels car is sold and gone now interested to see what he will get.

Yeah, I went back this past saturday. The best I ran was a 9.12, but the thing didn't print so I don't know what my 60' time or my trap speed was. Really pissed me off, since it was the fastest time I had made. As for the spanking, let's just say I'm standing up as I type this..............

Supraracr. I agree that I should be turning in some better times. There's cars up there that are running 8 flats and only running 85 mph. They just don't spin out of the hole like I do. For my birthday my wife ordered me a set of Nitto 555r drag radials. That should help my times immensely. I can't wait to get them on there and go to the track next saturday night. They won't be in this saturday. I'm going to take our camera with me and get my wife to film my races.....................I'll do my best to upload them on here. I may need someone to talk me through the process..............lol

I'll keep you posted on the performance difference the drag radials make..........lol

dont know what she will do now. ran 9.6 with stock upper and lower intake on and dying fuel pump( was having issues couldnt figure out what it was and someone pointed me and the right direction fuel pump was on it last leg and couldnt hold enough pressure to get her to run like she should). leaving the line easy. finally got the typhoon upper and lower intake on and new fuel pump and she feels like a totally different car alot faster mods are in my sig in my cardomain link.

but as we see with suprahero we cant always get the car to run what she is capable of at the track. some have told me she should run 8.5 to 9.0 depending on track condition, weather and how she hooks. well see i know shes quicker than my old supra and its best time was 9.2
plan to run her tonight and ill post times up. will be alot better as car is alot stronger than before. but im still on street tires and we all know how that goes.

ok enough thread hijacking..

glad to see you bringing your times down hero. keep us posted im very interested into what she will do once she hooks. love the car by the way.

Hijack away mi amigo. I love reading about other cars as well as supras. I go to www.need2speed.com and watch cool videos over there with camaros and mustangs racing. I would rather watch a supra spank a mustang, but I'm seeking therapy for that now............lol

Can't wait to go to the track next saturday with my drag radials and get some better 60' times. I'm shooting for mid 8's ....

when i owned a supra i would rather see a supra beat a mustang too. but now either way is good for me as long as one of them wins, :icon_razz

and besides most that own mustangs are arrogant anyway:nono: except for me... i guess thats because ive been on both sides of the track import/domestic. :biglaugh:

i went to the track but missed 3rd my first run then rain set in oh well. ill be getting my competition subframe connectors installed before long so ill be getting a pair of slicks then... ill keep ya posted

looking forward to seeing your times on drag radials hero should be low 8's high 7's.

hey now...my supra was(was) alot faster than when i had it in tennessee, but 2 rodknocks in a row can really drain ya, then i left for korea. im trying to save up while i am here but its tough to. itll be fast again hopefully:nono:

suprahero, when you say bama speedway, do you mean Alabama Int'l Speedway in Steele?

I ran there before I joined the military. I'll be going home on the 7th and get my car back into shape. I see that you're on the other side of B'ham, I'm in Anniston... I'd like to set up a meeting at Steele one test and tune night.

Ever come up to Seoul? Let's drive to the airport and race some turbo'd tiburons and 911's. I can find the strip where the guys do high speed runs w/o camera cops.
