so my automatic sucks hardcore.
it slips terribly from 1st to 2nd. i'm holdin' up traffic because i'm waiting for the damn thing to shift. it gets a little better when it warms up. the other gears seem to slip sometimes too. also when i would get on it, it seems like it would just slip out of gear once i hit like 3500rpms.

i was told if it's not the tranny itself, it can be the torque convertor, or the tranny could be stuck in fluid drive mode thats why the gears slip. i don't know that much about automatics so i don't know.
i was gonna unplug the ECT to run that test. its supposed to be behind the passenger's side kick panel, but i don't see it there. hmm, anyone got a picture of it?
and would changing the fluid be a bad idea? i got some lucas shit in it, and it helped. but now it started getting crappy again.
thanks.

Before you change the fluid, unplug the electronic control. It is a very good check and easy to do.

Let me spare you a minute. Your trans needs help. That is my over the internet free diagnostic for you. I don't believe it to be a control isssue.

The ECU controls the solenoids that tell the transmission what gear to go in. If it's going in gear, it's not the ECU.

Did you even check if it has fluid in it?

Other then that dude, it's a gonner. Don't bother rebuilding it, you can get good ones used for $100 and takes about 2hrs to swap out.

check the line pressure control cable as well as the fluid level.

when checking the fluid, you have to do it right to be accurate.

drive the car for about 20 min. then shift into each gear for a few seconds at a time, then put it back in park. then check the stick. do all this w/ the car running.

as far as the cable, if that is out it behaves poorly as well.

with the car off, hold the throttle wide open. the crimp on the line cable should be where the red arrow is. if not, adjust the nuts on the bracket until it is.
