My apparent thermostat issue? or is it?

Yeah...and your temps drop below that on a very regular basis. The stat temp rating tells you when it will open...nothing more. Trying to match the stat temp to what you car is doing is arse backwards...the temps your car is running at is NOT normal.

And I'm not going to tell you some BS that I'm not sure about...especially as something as simple as a thermostat. The only time anyone would need a 180 deg stat is if it gets blazing hot outside (like it does in Phoenix). If your cooling system can't handle a 190 stat, you've got bigger problems.

winter time is the only time the temps go crazy :aigo: . I just figured since during normal outside temps (40-90) the temp is almost always 180 (unless it was after a longer boost pull) i thought i'd start there. Apparently im wrong. 190 it is...
