Okay, yeah.. white or black 87-88 hardtop with 89+ wing, 89+ taillights and white package moulding if white. That sounds pretty bad-ass. Then again, even a primered, beat up Civic would sound bad-ass if it had a BPU or 700hp 2JZ in it...

BPU is the basic upgrades that the MkIV Supra guys do to their cars to maximize their turbochargers and injectors. While some have seen higher, on average, BPU'd Supras make 390whp. This is done with a Greddy Boost Cut Controller [get the model for the SW20 MR2], intake, 3" or bigger exhaust from the turbo back, and a boost controller.

Subsequent upgrades, noted by + [BPU++ etc.] grow until you replace the turbochargers - at which point you become APU, or advanced performance upgrades.

Hey, I just have a suggestion for your laptop sliding try idea. I actually did the same thing for my old 7M...before tearing it apart again for the coming 1jz and RHD swap lol. Anyways, I used a Sony Vaio Picturebook. Super tiny laptop with a widescreen so it was really easy to make it fit and slide all the way in. I might have some pics saved somewhere on my pc, but I gotta hunt for em. I know the older C1 model Picturebooks sell for about 5 or 600 on ebay? Just figured i'd let ya know.

The swap is on halt. My life is going in a different direction. I am going to get out of the military in less than 11 months and my Supra is unreliable as all hell. I don't have the money to finish the swap and make it reliable right now, and I am not going to waste the cash making my 7M reliable. I am going to get out of debt [not too much further to go!] sell the car and save my money to buy something reliable that will last me and my wife during our transition and time getting settled. My little brother works at a car dealiership and can get me some wicked deals on trade-ins that they accept - I'm hoping to have enough money in-hand to buy a gas-sipping auto 4-banger with cash; not having a car payment is a nice feeling.
I will keep all of my 2JZ swap parts for either another MkIII or a SC300.
The plan is to keep the car for groceries and emergencies until I am really close to getting out of the military - then I will sell it. The movers will come, pack up the place and ship it all out of here.. then we will take a cab to the airport or car rental place, and I will re-locate to my new residence and new life, where I can breathe and not worry about deploying or worry about my bosses getting into every little aspect of my personal life [yes, they do that in the military].

Someday a damn 2JZ-GTE engine will be going in a car of mine, and someday I will have a nice bit of horsepower to put to the ground - but right now I need to pave the way for the future.

We will relocate to Yuma, Arizona so I can be closer to my family. I haven't decided if I want to work at a regular unskilled labor type job and go to school part time using the G.I. Bill or if I want to just apply for a Federal Job and see where it takes me. I might want to get a degree first - that should yield more money for me.
I am currently 26 years old and my goal is to have a job where I make between $60k-$80k a year when I am 30 years old [more would rock, but I don't want to push it]. With my work experience in the military, I have alot of skills that can make GOOD money "on the outside", and a degree can only make that salary go UP.

I need to see a career counselor SOON. I have too many interests and skills, and I need help narrowing down what I want to work towards. It is going to have to be something either aircraft, electro/photo-optical, electric/electronic or computer related. I have more skills than that, but those are the ones that I believe I would enjoy most.
I also need a job where I don't need to be terribly organized, or I need to learn how to organize - organization is my BIGGEST WEAKNESS!

...so THERE is my update! LoL :D

Just because you lack the resources and patience doesn't mean I am going to quit this swap. I love the 2JZ engine, and I love the A70 body. I also want something unique, but do-able. I am not a great fan of the Mk4 body style. Even if I was, I have enough money, time and research into this and couldn't turn back now if I wanted. I love the way my MkIII looks and feels. I'm not a kid OR some average ricer who has wet dreams of owning a JZA80 Supra and settled for a MkIII. Buying a Mk4 would have been settling for me. I've been moderating at I-Supra for over two years now and I seem to have plenty of support from the MkIII AND Mkiv guys over there. In fact, I believe you are the only person who I've ever heard discourage a 2JZ swap to someone who is capable of accomplishing it. I have done the research, I have the skills, the means, the tools, and I have the patience to get this done. I don't mean to sound like a d!ck, but please don't confuse my motivation with your lack of any of these.

EXACTLY why I went 2JZ in my MKIII! I want the more advanced engine design, but I'm more in love with the MKIII than the MKIV.

I read the rest of your thread too, and I hope you get a chance to finish this someday!
