my 1jz running after 2 yrs!!!!!!!!

hey guys been on the forums for a while. i bought a bhg 1988 supra and found out the best route was 1jz.... so bought my front clip installed did the wiring and tried starting it.......yes with the wires unwrapped at night just to see it run. with my great luck the ecu shorted out on the shock tower and started some bright fireworks.since winter came along i had time to buy a stinger standalone which i purchased since i was going single this summer or so.so i got it tuned anyway. but i need to drive it until july as it sits. and its running a little too rich. it made my new blitz nur spec black. the car is currently 3" all the way, running off wastegate and has 2 bov's. the guy told me he only tuned for 2 and a 1/2 hrs but was charging me 150 an hour so i thought that was enough. but it shuts off easily and stalls out a lot really rough to drive.is this normal? and here's the dyno sheet. thanks for reading.

seems a little bit low with a standalone. im no expert though, I'd be pissed if I paid a guy $375 for "tuning" and the car doesn't even run well for everyday driving

That seems high for an hourly rate. I pay my tuner $80.00 an hour but he hardly ever charges me the full price. The day I tuned my stinger, we installed it at his shop and I was on the dyno for fourteen hours. He charged me $400.00 total for everything.

well congrats on getting it running, but everything you mentioned about the way its running is NOT normal. i'd talk to your tuner and tell him you'll come back and he can finish it with no charge

Turbo Technologies in Lakewood is $45 for the first pull, and $10 per pull after that. Thats about as good of a deal as I've found.

Take that shit back.

He tuned it. You paid him. The car doesnt run. End of story.

yeah he was ripping you off seriously, 150$ an hour means its twice as good of a job as someone charging 80$ an hour... crack prices (or in most cases feeding meth addiction)

he used his wideband to tune it, today it took me a good 5 minutes to get it started. is this from standalone or bad tuning?

BAD TUNING!!! Screw that guy and go to someone else. Or tell him you want 1/2 your money back for the crappy job... or you want the job done 100% free of charge. :nono:

i'd take it back if i were you a get your $$$. i had my car dyno last year and untuned made 295 rwhp and 309 lbs of torque. Imagine what a good 2 hrs of tune can do from someone who knows how to tune correctly. I probably hit 315-325.

thanks for the help guys, but the problem is there is no good tuners that is reasonable in price around here. it took me a good 15 minutes to start my car today it sucks. i was late for school. it sucks i might have to get another car or sumthing:cry:

Take a weekend and go over your car. Whats a tuner gonna do, that you cant? Buy a wideband and a timing light, and get a service manual and start doing some researching. Nothign like being able to save money, and do your own work.

I agree with s383mmber1. More than likely if you go back to the tuner he's going to carry on about how he cant do anything and will not give yo a refund. Pretty much give you the run around which will piss you off. Just wait patiently.......im sure someone on here is having similar issues but my guess is to much fuel at start up causing it to flood alil.

good luck

well actually im guessing since its cold out its not enough gas?
it took me a good minute of holding the key on to get it running.
then when its running even if i throttle a little just to idle at 1200-1500 or so it dies but ill figure it out and do something myself. thanks for the support....
also clutch fork rattling? noise when running but goes away when foot on clutch.
other than that pulls great when stepping on the gas. but speedo is broken. anyone have speedo line for sale? broken between the tranny and the next adapter piece thing
