My 1JZ has so much torque it spins the wheels in neutral...

while on jackstands. well the hubs anyways, the wheels weren't on. i was testing my new ecu and exhaust. (ecu works great and the tanabe sounds like sex btw) i got out of the car to check for smoke and noticed that the hub was turning in neutral (manual tranny). it would stop when the clutch was depressed.

i'm thinking that's not supposed to happen... so wtf could be causing it?

I don't think there's anything to worry about as long as everything operates normal and there's no abnormal sounds. I've noticed this also when I got my r154, that while spinning the input shaft(in nuetral) the output shaft will spin also,as long as there's no resistance.

It can happen even if it's not really cold. There can be enough pressure from the oil in the tranny to spin the wheels while in neutral. Especially in a car with a light drivetrain.

It's normal.

Yes Yes...It's normal.

This happened to me with my s13 240sx once.

After seeing this, I immediately panicked, but quickly found out it was normal. :)

Orrrrrr...

Maybe we've founda 1J that actually has some torque worth fussing over?

;)

Indeed it did Brewster. First thread I bothered reading after a few days of inactivity myself. Btw, I have seen plenty of cars do this while the wheels are off. In fact, some even moved the wheels with the wheels themselves on, even after just repairing the transmission, so it's normal.

My wussy 7M-GE spins my wheels in neutral. But oddly enough, it was only after I replaced the clutch... :wtf:

Yuppers. My AE86 will get the wheels going pretty good if it's up on jackstands in neutral while running.

it happens on all cars. well all ive ever worked on anyways. A quick example if you have a cordless drill to hand, put it in neutral (between speed 1 and 2 ) and pull the trigger. the chuck will still turn because of the drag. even tho if you touch the chuck it will stop turning
