Why would the gearing matter to the dynamometer ? It is what is measuring your torque and as long as you are accurately measuring engine RPM, gearing has what to do with it?

the 1:1 idea is seems bogus because it is not the only "gearing component" in your drive line, there is the obvious rear end and also the diameter of the tire the play a role on the overall complete gear ratio.

it doesn't matter, you just want more load, high gear gives more load... as long as you dont exceed the max speed of the dyno..
