You will only have a problem if you go the other way. The engine ECU supplies information to the trans ECU on the A340E.

The TCCS engine ECU has to get that information from someplace. Perhaps your yr/mk/mo ECU has plugs for both, and it doesn't know the differnce. But that isn't what I have seen. Maybe the two different ECU's Toyota has simply has slightly different load calculations built into it.

Ok so what about stock boost levels? AT is rated at what 5 or so and MT is about 6.5-7? What determines the stock boost level? Is it the ECU? Could switching the Geico really ad 2 lbs of boost? Haha that was ghey!

Its the transmission not the ecu. either ecu or trans have the same turbo and waste gate, The waste gate is what controls boost.

What dont you get?

The waste gate controls the amount of boost the turbo will see.

All turbo models use the same turbo and waste gate.

The ecu has zero control. It can control how much fuel to add to air flow how ever,

The auto trans has more drive train lose and uses more energy.

Manual cars are always faster.

Contrary to common belief a manual car is faster in the 1/4 the only difference is the auto shifts fast mking it faster but the auto has to have more hp so actually the manual is more efficient.

Sounds right to me. Pretty much sums up the second post.

Unless the turbo has a electronic waste gate which is usually on some new vehicles( i know for sure on some hyundais like sonata or kia optima) The waste gate is controlled by the spring pressure its rated for(ie 8 psi). Its also vacuum controlled. Fyi manual and has no electronics.

The manual transmission has a solid link to the engine, which creates a heavier load. The automatic has a fluid coupling which slips, and does not transfer as much of a load to the engine.
