Well... well!!!

Thought it was about time for an update!

Here is the shifter finished - same as above but this time with a coat of paint :D:

While i had the engine out i thought i had better change the rack bushes which are as old as the car and help it to go around corners :)
There are RonnieK's bushes... would like a full set but too much $$ :(

Engines on the ground.... 2JZ just waiting to go in!

A bit too big to fit in thuuuurrrr!

As you can see, the shifter sits back just a little (approx a inch)

The V160 is definitely notchier than the R154, not smoother.

Jeff

That is true... Was weird getting used to the notchy-ness of the shifting. no biggie now though - the R154 in my other JZA70 was pretty good.

i think it could partly be because you guys have a lot of badass jdm stuff there :naughty: oh well, this is interesting to me because i've never seen anyone list what had to be modified to fit the v160 in the a70. how do you like it? have you noticed any sort of acceleration benefit from the additional gear? i've never driven anything with one of these transmissions, so i dont have any clue how they are.

We are flooded with the Jappa rejects... not that we are complaining though hahah. this is the first V160 car i have driven. not too bad either :) i would like to drive a MKIV just to compare how it is how i have it. acceleration is nice but i think thats co i was used to the 1JZ and the auto :p

Awesome build I apreciate the info with the tranny!! now you are making me want a 160 more than my R154! Car looks pretty clean reminds me of mine only mine is far from done. are there allot of MK3's in NZ??

There are quite a few MK3's here in NZ. i think there would have to be almost as many GA70's as there are MA70's.

You guys should call in to NZ if you go to Japan ;D have a look for yourselves - if you could bring some 2JZ stuff with you that will be much appreciated haha

No turbo upgrades?

One day in the near future i hope... Wouldnt mind doing it while turbos are still oing and i can offset the cost a little. talked to a mate about it last ngiht actually.. something along the lines of GT3582 (or something like that)..
I'm only new to the aftermartket turbos so still learning..

Cheers.

Did the poly steering bushings fit Ok? I'm just about to attempt to do mine from underneath with the engine in place :(. Mine are oil soaked and falling out.

The GT35 is considered one of the best street turbos. I just put a modified billet GT35 on my car and the spool and power and incredible. The company and many users report that their modified billet GT3582 spools faster than and puts out another 50hp over the regular GT35. I actually went for the even higher output 3586, I got it from here: http://store.forcedperformance.net/...een=CTGY&Store_Code=FP&Category_Code=Turbo-FP

The bushes fit very nice. could have ben sightly too big but it meant when the tops went on them they were iun there very tight!

I did the last set in my other JZA70 with the engine in the car and that wasnt the most fun thing i have done... wasnt the hardest thing either.

Good news about the turbos... will have a good read up about them now :)

cheers!

Wow it's been almost a year since I updated

I am half way (well more like a fifth) of the way through a single turbo conversion.

Some reasons to get this thing under way:

Fouling on clutch master:

Fouling on brake master :

Then:

During removal:

Taadaaaaa... Gone!!

Random shot of the tank on the ground. Awaiting new pump - still deciding on where to buy (Bosch 040/044)

A little something that i have been working on over the last week or 5.

Have been working on the wiring for it over the weekend. Should be good to go in a few more days when i find time around work. Looks much prettier when in the car ;)
