My friend recently purchased a 1987 Supra. He said it was originally a non-turbo car but the guy he bought it from changed the parts to make it turbo. Well the CT26 turbo he had on it when he bought it was full of oil and bearing were bad so he ordered another CT26 from Ebay. The engine is a 3.0L and the turbo is intercooled. The new CT26 from Ebay looks differnent that the one that came off. it will bolt to the exhaust manifold but the oil line input and exit isnt in the same position and the exit for the compressed air isnt in the same postion. Also the actuator it mounted in a different location and the rod to the wastegate is straight not bent. I beleive he purchased a Ct26 off of a MR-2 or Celica. My question is will it work on his supra and if it will what needs to be done to make all the connection work?

My guess is it can work as long as you swap out the exhaust side of the turbo?
Also I believe the mr2/celica ct26 turbo's are smaller than the supra ct26.

Both of these are correct. But the size difference is minuscule in reality. as for the oil lines and wastegate, use the supra one.

I have both and they are different to a point. The one off of a 7m has a bigger intake than the mr2 one does. And the twin entry is a difference too.

folks,

this is the technical forums! If you are guessing, STOP IT. Pulling information out off thin air. STOP IT!! Speculating, STOP IT!!!!!

Toyota never has released turbo specs for the MR-2 or the Supra. So anything we say here is speculative and not based on any facts!

Figgie,

I terms of physical differences when visualy inspecting the outside of the turbos they are different. The hot side of the mr2 is twin entry and the wastegate acutator has two vaccum ports instead of 1.

that doesn't mean anything.

What is the A/R of both the compressor and turbine? The outside could be the size of the 7m engine, it is the internal dimensions that are applicable.
