hi all, havent posted for a while due too finishing me 2jz gte swop takeing so long, now shes running sweet ive noticed that the fuel used is way too high as in im lucky to get 15 mpg and thats if i take it extra carefull,im also noticeing a pinking (sounds like a chain ) sound when putting my foot down and wandered if this is a connected problem with the mpg. ive checked the valve timeing and all pipe work for possible leaks but all is ok. i know the more mods the less mpg but cant beleive the extreme fuel usage , any ideas or suggestions ?????

i definitely got more than 15mpg... any way you can record the sound? did you check your coils to make sure they are not cracked or damaged? (remove the rubber boot on them) is there a lack of power or anything like that?

What setup do you have?

pinking? When WOT? It sorta sounds like you might have some detonation. That'd probably be related to your MPGs as something isn't right in the setup causing it.

My old 2jzgte swapped car got 22mpg around town. Never took it on a road trip to know highway though. I assume 26 or so.

Not necessarily. Take your car to a dyno and have it tuned by a professional. I have seen numbers around here in the 25-30 range on cars making 400+HP

thanks for the replys , listed mods so far are front mount intercooler,4" straight through exhaust no cats, walbro pump, iridum plugs, dump valve, blitz induction,125 bhp nos (aint turned it on yet ) and so on . i will eventually get it on the rolling road too be tested but cant afford the bleeding trip with it burning the fuel like it does lol:biglaugh:. runs sweet with no problems apart from that pinking when putting me foot down a bit ,went out in it tonight for around an hour and burned 3 gallons its crazy its like runnung a helicopter

you should probably avoid driving it until you fix the pinging(not pinking) You will destroy your motor if you don't if indeed this is what it is.
Do you have a widebandw/a gauge and what fuel controller are you using?

you need a wideband if you want to know whats going on with your car. does that chain sound only come on in a certain gear/rpm? mine has a similar sound but its because my motor mounts are strting to go

well what kind of power are you hoping to make?
You need a wideband either way. that 2jz is probably worth more that 150$ to you right?
