i'm bad, i'm nationwide
okmy 2 cents..i live in tx panhandle, cost of living is next to nothing, i was just up in fritch this afternoon(where ron whitew is from) and found several houses (trailers but if youre renting now, who cares?) for under 15k on lake meredith(nw of amarillo),have land on lake waiting to save and build cash

there is emissions checks on books, but up here in 15 years i've never had hood pulled, just lights, wipers, insurance, and youre done

old man is maint guy at local packing housemakes about 15 hour, i'm long haul trucker about 70k a year can live anywhere, choose to live here enjoy nice standard of living,

hell just today saw ad for maint guy at gas plant starts like 17 hour

not east coast, but nice place to live, caqn rent nice place in right town 300 to 600 for really nice place easy, mild winters only snowed here once this year, gone next day, hot summers, but dry and manageable

Alls I'm gonna say is DO NOT move to Maryland Or Northern Virginia! They are just too close to Washington DC and that city is the biggest crap hole in the US! I live in an area where alot of people work in DC and commute 2+ hours ONE WAY and DC is only 40 miles away TOPS. Traffic is worst in the country second only to LA and IMO the standard of living is very high( very expensive to live in) but the quality of life is awful (people put more importance on their job than on their family/relationships). That is all.

Am I missing something in regards to emmissions here in FL? I have lived here for a really long time and never once have been checked on emmissions. What gives? Is this just on the older cars? Surely there must be a way around this. Sorry to here about those problems Tanya.

whats the diff between amarillo and lubbock?..not much as i can tell

as far as dallas/houston....cost of living waaayyyto high, traffic sucks(what good is a nice supra if your sitting in bumper to bumper traffic all day?

besides the bigger citys do check emissions in tx

its easier to have a better standard of living here, shure its not the nightlife/cultural center of the universe here, but hell, i'm raising a family, and its a damn fine place to do that

btw, i dont live in amarillo either get too much city life at work

I'm not leaving FL because of emissions (which there is none, not where I am anyway), I want to leave due to family issues. I'm looking at SC for the win so far. I won't be online for a few days, but I appreciate everyones help and suggestions so far. :)

We should setup a meet in Lubbock, or Amarillo. I want to go to the big texan, but I cannot drive my car for another 2 months due to cash flow issues. I want too though. She runs so well.

have you ever eaten at big texan? in 15 yrs in panhandle only been once

its a total tourist trap..wayoverpriced, and the decor is like some german tourist's idea of what texas should be

like the meet idea though, perhaps early summer? the kids car wont be ready before then, and i'll be lucky to have my mk3 done for silv07

Well, we're moving to Santee, SC not this weekend, but next. Put down a payment (rental) on a 6 bed/2ba house for $600 :aigo: a month. (Watch it be a big pile of crap, but at this point anything is better than living in one room)

We're running around like crazy trying to figure out what stuff to leave behind, whether or not to junk the 280zx, or put a trailer on my Supra and drag the 280zx up there, yadda yadda yadda.

Last time we moved out of state, we had $600 in our pocket and only one kid. It was a fairly simple move from FL to MA and when we arrived we still had $150 left (after the gas, food, and 3 hotel stays).

Now that gas is $3.00 a gallon down here, I'm not looking forward to trying to figure out the gas mileage of the Supra with all the added weight.

U-Haul wants $1,067 to use their SMALLEST truck :icon_evil
