Please excuse my nooberness:
What would happen if I mounted the inner cooler away from the radiator like, closer to the bumper? Would it make any difference in air flow or is that not a good idea. Does this cause a disruption in air flow? Toyota is pretty smart, there must be a reason why they mounted it next to the Radiator, I guess my point is when you clear debri away from the radiator it would cool better.
Thanks

my understanding is it doesn't need to be infront of the radiator, infact the heat from the radiator might actually be bad..

There are V-mounted rads/IC's, and top mounted IC's so location doesn't matter as long as it's getting the right amount of air..

You would likely see more benefit from developing a shroud around the IC to force air in through the IC, and make sure you have that underpanel in place!

You, know, I was thinking the same as you, except I don't have an under pan,.. Make one!!

My shroud is missing like most, but they are a good idea, and I intend to make a new one.

Hey, there's guy here that was making c.f. parts, let's do that. a c.f. underpanel.

Yeah, but go over a bump and hit it on something... CF doesn't bend like plastic would

A thin sheet of aluminum or stainless steel is the way I would go if I had the $$$ and mine was missing.

Doing mine with stainless steel,it's rather cheap,I got a 4'x4' piece of 20 gauge polished stainless for $23.

Just make sure any custom underpanel is secured properly, and not too thin of a gauge if using metal. The end result of not taking the aforementioned into consideration is a thunder sound while driving.

Think: taking large sheet of thin aluminum or SS and hold it in one hand. Now shake/twist it side to side. You get sort of a "thunder" sound. It would certainly make your car sound... interesting... as it approached.

A very good point. I'll be sure to include some bracing if/when I get around to building the thing.

Thought of that,(that's how my dunebuggy floor board sounded at first.)I have access to a bead roller.Gonna roll the edges and a few lines down it,should stiffen it up quite a bit.
