Ok guys i just completed a swap of a 7M-GE engine form one car to another. Now it will not start all i hear is a click sound of a relay from under the dash on the passanger side but the starter never kicks in. When i swapped the engine I pulled the engine and wiring harnes out of the car which was an automatic and put it in my car which is a manual and just plugged it directly to the Manual ECU. I am wondering if the problem is that my ECU is not talking with the auto wiring harness. the Auto wiring harness has a couple of yellow plugs which all just connected right up but i have an extra white plug that i can seem to find where it plugs in. On the car that donated the engine there is a place to plug it in and on my car there is not. My stock manual harness has the same white plug with less connections on it. Any ideas? I will put the auto ECU in the car tommorrow and see if that works. If not i am stumped i have checked all the grounds and connectors all seem fine. Any thoughs??? :1zhelp:

Its prolly not the ECU. The white plug you speak of is the connector to the auto tranny cpu IIRC.

Check your main ground from the battery to the block. Also, I am sure that u have already, but double check your connections a the starter.

As for bypassing the neutral safety switch... haha... I feel bad for the many people who have paid someone to bypass this..... I can give you a REALLY easy tip around this.... There's three harness connectors on the Auto... look for the one that is round and has three wires running in it, a BLACK wire, a WHITE wire, and a BLUE wire.... Cut that plug off the tranny with some wire to spare.... Take the WHITE and the BLACK wire and splice them together... Plug that connector into the harness side in the car.... Your ECT ECU will now think your car is in park all the time and it will start right up. Too easy.

That should help....the wire colors may be different for the w58 but I think the principle is the same.
