at the moment, i've been looking for a place to do an engine swap into my supra since my dad told me he doesn't want to deal with having it rebuilt. i agreed and called a few performance shops that have done 1JZ swaps in the past, one place quoted me $4,000 to get the car running including price of the engine and transmission etc. one quoted me $3,000 for everything and there are 2 things i'd have to buy but he'd get the front clip and have a/c working (i don't know about cold though, it doesn't blow cold at the moment)
then i call a regular old shop saying i wanted a basic 7M-GE engine swap, no harness, no transmission, no ECU, NOTHING and he told me i should take the car to a shop first to see exactly what is wrong and have the compression checked before i do anything because it would cost ~$6,000 and the intake, injectors, etc would all have to be put on the new rebuilt one
does this make sense to anybody? i called at least 15 other shops and they either didn't do engine swaps or they didn't answer (it's almost 5:00 here anyway), so i have nothing to base it on
and i also don't want this to be a 7M vs 1J thread, i already know what i want and was just getting quotes
