Looking at the housings, it would be very tricky, but I've got some ideas on how to pull it off. I think the tint would only dim the lights slightly, but not diffuse them more than stock.

Pics below are from the Supraforums thread mentioned above. Tinted tails with 2 round LED's behind:

You know what would help that reflector problem, doing like what Toyota did to the center piece. Tape off the round parts on the back side of the tail lights then paint it will silver/chrome paint. Then it will block light from hitting the back side of the reflector where you don't want it to show through.

HT5, that would probably work. Can you do one more photoshop? I'm looking at my 89+ tails now and there is barely enough room for one row of LED's above and below where the 3 amber bars are, and that limit extends across the housing. I think if you could trim off one complete row of the LED's off the top and bottom of your image (all the way across), it would be much more accurate.

Also, there is not enough room at the ends to have a complete vertical row of red LED's beside the amber bars to give the overall light bar the closed look. Some of the LED's would shine through the clear sections of the lens, which might not be too bad, but would probably look brighter than the rest.

Yeah I thought about all that crap too. As for them being brighter shining through the clear parts....I'm going to set different sections up with a rheastat (sp) so that I can adjust the brightness of certain parts. For example, the center section will be on it's own circuit, same with the brake lights and turn signals, etc.

The 'chop isn't 100% accurate by any means. I'm going to put everything in my cad program so I can see exactly how many LEDs will fit and all that. I'll put up some 3d renders of that when I get there.
