MKIV Transmission Swap Question

Hi, I am posting for a friend of mine who is looking at purchasing an N/A MKIV and swapping in the getrag at a later date. Niether of us have access to a MKIV to measure so I figured I'd ask here. My question is this: Are there any differences in transmission tunnel size in the MKIV? My research is saying that yes, it needs modification, other pages are saying its pretty much bolt in. I am thinking that the tunnel will need modification but I would like to make sure. Thanks in advance for any insight

I don't believe there will be any need to custom anything!

The tunnel itself is the same size, however where the shifter hole is in a different spot between Auto and Manual. If the N/A is a 5-speed, you should be fine, but if it is an auto, you'll need to change out the upper tunnel piece, (part number 58261-14010).
