LOL...... Yeah, you're correct and to make it functional you might have to cut some metal that's abstracting the air flow as the owner did to his car. The holes are for looks if nothing done to make it functional...just like the head light covers LOL.

Noel

Looks like a good piece. te you do have to do some work to make it functional:
p1838984_1.jpg
I bought one like Enrique's, not a bad fit, although it's about 1/8" narrow on the flush out to the stock fender.
p1838984_2.jpg

Also made a vented HL cover from a stock one to match the vents in the Regulus
p1838984_3.jpg
Does take some work on the HL housing to make it work but it works.

LOL...looks like you did a couple of upgrade to make it better like the metal piece on the back of the center vent plus the partition. Why don't you show it how it’s bowed @ the head light area (passenger) as I underlined on the picture above? The center vent will get another sheet metal added (glued) for sturdiness so the mold will be rigid. The vents will get a fiber glass added to the top portion of the vents to make it look like a tunnel. I assure you the fitments and quality will be there once it leaves the manufacture just as the Top Secret Hoods I produced.

I might have to double check that 1/8 narrow you're saying. When I pulled this out from my friend it was fine...maybe not all the parts was produced were the same..lol

I had the CFX head light with vent and all I saw was metal underneath and nothing functional at all...lol

Of course you do this now I no longer have a Mk3 :nono:...

 how these look!
(one of the only body mods I ever considered)

Well maybe you can relive some of those days thru mine. Especially since almost everything in the build you mentored except for the shinny AZP pieces. Those are just my throw back to chrome valve covers!

Son of a bitch... Noel, I've had this thing for nearly 2 years now, and never realized it had that funny bump on the passenger side. Well... might as well put my name down as interested if you're going to fix that. I'll sell mine at some point. What are you doing with the vents to make a "tunnel" that you speak of? I'm trying to figure out a way to make this functional, but as far as I can tell, it will open up right into the top tank of the radiator. Looks good and all, but I'm trying to make this as functional as I can.

Wait... this doesn't lead right to the top tank of the radiator... it should hit right below it, correct? Can someone who has one of these post a closer picture of what's behind the holes? Trying to figure out what to put there. ;)

Also, Fred, do you have any pictures of this mounted on your car? You said you had to make some mods, I'd love to "see" (I'm more a visual learner) how it turned out.

I'm going to build up that top portion with fg (aprox-1/4'') so mainly extending it downward. So when you look at it you won't be able to see the top portions cut out. I'm thinking of doing it from the inside also with the sides & bottoms. I hope I'm making sense of it lol.

Sounds real good. I did look at the pics I have-car is still in the shop-long build! and the passenger side bulge-bump is noticeable, had a thought a while ago that it might be the reason for the 1/8th" short length. Anyway, would you consider making one-these in fiberglass? Not real crazy about all CF. I have a Central Composites CF raised cowl hood coming that I am going to paint & ghost into the exposed CF raised cowl. I would paint the Regulus nose, or as another thought, just leave the CF at the vent openings exposed. Good idea, I'm in, what CF weave are you using?

As far as the HL cover, and it does take some work on the stock HL housing, all I see when I look in is the Weapon R air filter. Do you want to make one of these in CF? I could paint it and leave the CF vent exposed like the Regulus.

Fred,

We been using the twill I believe. I know a few vendors that make the covers so competition is there. So I'm not so sure that is something my vendor is interested of making.

Your post count is 666...lol

666 used to be my neighbors tag #!

Most of the CF HL covers I have seen, and I have a set on the shelf here, have a raised edge around them to accommodate the do nothing vent. The one I made has a flush profile- like the stock HL cover.

Twill would-should work with the hood CF.

Noel, I think I see what you're saying here. Would plain weave carbon be an option? That's the pattern of everything else I have, so I'd like to stick with that. I haven't decided on painting it all yet, so I may leave it exposed, and would want to be able to do that if I do go the exposed route.

Brad,
Yes, Plain weave is an option. There's other colors also that's an option.

I'm down for one, if you can deliver on the quality. I already have one, it needs some work to fit nicely.

I'm happy to take it in FRP if you end up going down that route too. I'm just going to paint over mine.

Hate to burst your bubble Noel, but that custom spoiler reminds me a LOT of a stock s13 spoiler... Just seems weird to me. Doesn't look bad, just... odd.
