Really? MKIV interior like a cockpit? Have you sat/driven one? I doubt it because the MKIII interior is WAY WAY more wrapped around you than the MKIV.

Like everyone else has said, it won't work, without a ton of money.

New cars have TERRIBLE interiors... Newer doesn't alway mean better, and honestly I don't see a way to do a swap.
I disagree. SOME new cars have terrible interiors, but not all. My statement was a generalisation, ill admit to that. Newer doesnt always mean better, you're right there. But, the MK4 interior (IMO opinion, and having owned both models) is far nicer than the MK3 interior.

Dont get me wrong, I love my MK3 (I sold my MK4 to go back to a MK3 because I liked it better), but the interior is not its strong point. The dash itself is not what i'd call great looking and its kind of out dated as opposed to the exterior of the car which IMO is timeless.

I laughed so hard my stomach hurt for a week.
You can always make that dash??

Seriously the only mod I would make is a single stack inc cluster secured in a glare shield/hood aluminum panel dash for track only.
Also remember toyota refers to our dashes as Saftey Pads http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=BO&P=50
I wouldnt even replace is with a carbon fiber or fiberglass replica impacting your face to it if it cracked would leave a nice scratch on you.
Its desgined to be a part of the cars saftey equipment dont compromise it,

Yep. Thus is also the reason modern cars have shit plastic fantastic interiors...they don't have to be soft because of airbags.

I like the MK3 interior better with the exception of the MK4 making it harder for the passenger to mess with my controls.

A swift punch in the ear will make it the last time they fuck with my controls.

Sat in one, been a couple years, I just remember it being a lot like a c5 Vette, everything just kinda feels right. Same thing with a Mk3, it's always fun letting friends sit in my driver's seat, trying to squeeze in where my skinny ass sits. :)

Holy shit, that Hommer guy... that's not what I meant when I said you could try replicating the Mk4 dash. You'd have to be a good fabricator to actually make something respectable, but isn't innovation half the fun? Kinda forgot about the whole 'safety pad' thing, although I have read that bit before. I don't imagine my 'safety pad' would do anyone in my car much good though, as the previous owners bother to protect the dash from the AZ sun, and it's hard as a rock and cracked...

I own both, and the MKIV is much more cockpit like.

In the MKIV, EVERYTHING points at the driver.

In the MKIII, the center section of the dash is pointed straight at the back of the car.

People who aren't familiar with them often comment from the passenger seat that it's obvious the MKIV is designed for the driver and the passenger is almost completely ignored.

I happen to love both interiors, and the MKIII has much better factory seats when it comes to comfort. The MKIII is very cockpit like, but the MKIII being more cockpit like than the MKIV? Not a chance.

As for this "mod"? The MKIV is a rounded car, the MKIII is a squared off car. Completely different designs. The MKIV dash in the MKIII would look about as out of place as the MKIV wing (round) does on the MKIII (square). Cars have lines, when one component deviates, it looks out of place.

But that's just my opinion, everyone has one.

To the OP, it's your car, do whatever you want to it if it makes you happy, just keep the safety aspects in mind and don't create a deathtrap.

I do understand the lines issue there. I can see where that would not look good at all really. However, like metioned before it is something way different then anything done apparently and thats probably because most people have something and they don't want to change it. I do love hwo the MKIV makes you feel and yes I have sat in one just never owned it. Everything is formed to the driver and I love that feeling. I don't have to turn my head to see anything just move my eyes. It would be interesting to see though how it would turn out. I might just be the only one crazy enough to try it and either make something amazing or crash and burn. I figured with the 2jz dropped in for the engine, custom interior replicating the MKIV and some exterior mods this would be a show stopper if nothing else. It was just a thought really. I figure if I can't afford a MKIV then I will do my best to make one. but I posted another thread on the forums about me finding an 87 for $200 that needs to be restored and started thinking that would be a geat project car for this. But if I'm going to throw over $15k at this thing anyways then I might as well just tak out a loan and go buy an MKIV since that will be th only way it happens honestly. I"m not rich at all, just creative.
