MK3 vs. EVO 8 vs. GTI vs. 06 maxima

fun race.

went on the freeway with my buddy and i. origianlly was supposed to race the maxima but the maxima's buddies came along. two runs downhill and one run uphill.

start off downhill and was playing with the maxima. but when we started uphill. evo and gti wanted to play too. at first my buddy and i were like well this evo will show us who's the boss. so...three honks and we're off. maxima didn't even keep up and the gti didn't either. going at about 80 i started to pull away from the evo. going 120 evo was on my ass and we were even (no one gaining). hit about 140 and let off.

we got off the freeway and the evo told me that he had 2 10in subs in his trunk and was boosting only 10 psi so that's why he couldn't go any faster. he has a turbo back, chipped ecu, bigger injectors, and that's all (i think).

i have a ddp, hiflow cat, cat back, and boost controller set to 14.7 psi (1 bar). i also have a boost leak. so i boost to 1 bar and die of to .7 bar.

i thought evo's are supposed to be faster than that?

anyways that's all.

Good story. I haven't seen any Evo's around here. What kind of ebc are you running? My manual boost controller won't hold my boost like it should. I'm either going to get a maft pro or a ebc to help keep mine from spiking to 18psi................lol

yea evos arent much of a worry on the freeway.

good kill, but u definatly don't have a boost leak. boost leak would boost up like normal, maybe even higher than normal, but u would have no power.

boosting to 1 bar, then creeping back down to 0.7 is the result of a stock ct and an mbc. the mbc is set to about 0.7, but u spike to 1bar first, then it comes back down.

full exhaust and fuel mods on an evo 8 is a good kill on a stock ct.

I think the EVO driver was BS, you can't boost below the wastegate setting, if its 14psi stock you are not going to be running 10psi. If you had gone from a dead stop he may have been as fast as u thought but without the advantage of getting ahead on the AWD launch he loses out and becomes an equal or lesser car to you GOOD KILL

From what I have herd is that a EBC set to minimum is 10 psi on evos.

But why would he upgrade the injectors on the evo if hes still on the stock turbo they already have 550's I know people in the 11's with there evos still on stock injectors.

either way an evo 8 is a good kill but at 10psi :3d_frown: poor lancer didnt know what he was dealing with lol.
