one of my friends has a turbo supra i forget what year to be exact. hes got a 88 turbo parts car. Some of his engine wiring harness has failed (damaged) but the ecu and wiring out of the 88 are different. His is only firing on 4 cyls now.

the plugs for the Ecu are different shape

i told him to pull the wiring & ecu out of the 88 and just rewire his. to do this would he have to pull the dash out and just get all those wires or would he have to do the rest of the car to make everything match?

thanks

What color are the plugs, grey or yellow? and if he changes the engine wiring harness then you dont need to pull the dash but if you change the chassis wiring harness then you do neeed to pull the dash.

one set is yellow the other set is gray. I think the yellow ones are in his parts car and the gray is in his good supra. I think his good one is a 90 model, i could be wrong.

thanks

not gonna work and not worth it. call toyota and buy a new one. yellow is pre89 and grey is post. there were changed in the ecu also (HAC for example) that makes them not interchangeable. sorry bro

Do you have any idea about how much a new harness would cost?

So this would still not work if we swapped the entire wiring harness with ecu, HAC and other electronics that needed to be?

if the harness is more than about $100 bucks he'll probly just want to swap all the dash wiring over to save money.

were there any sensors on the engine that were changed that you guys know of?

thanks for your time
