Mk2 Body styling on Mk3.

My friends Mk2 spurred me to recently purchase my mk3. I really wanted an mk2 b/c I've always liked its lines, specifically the add-on wheel "extensions" on the body(no idea what to call those) that give it that wider looking stance. I was wondering if anybody has ever tried to use those "extensions" on a mk3. I know you would certainly have to do body modifications due to those "extensions" extending to the front bumper and side skirts.

So two questions: Has anybody ever done it? Do you think it would look good on an mk3?

I'm new to SM and hope to spend lots of time on here. Really great forum you have here and I couldn't be happier to be a member of it.

They are called fender flares and I personally have never seen this done.

There are Fender flares available for the MKIII - They're called Godfather Fender Flares.

I don't think I would like that look on a MKIII. Just my opinion.

And I don't think they would look good on the MK3, US MK3's are already considered "widebody"...I think they look good on the MK2 because it is much more angular...I dont think the MK3's styling could pull it off...

Yea the godfathers are the only thing that would be similar. They arent as dramatic but they do fit the mk3 well:

I could go measure mine I suppose, but I can tell you right now, the MKIII has much bigger wheel wells.

they are but i think he means size which i think their like 15x6 or 15x7.

14x7 +8mm offset with 225/60R14 tires.

personnally, the best part of the mk2 body "styling" is the back bumper which is big enough to be a park bench.......im just sayin. lol

No offense to the owner, but that car's exterior looks hacked to hell in my opinion :cry: . I like all the other mods, but what he did to the exterior kills it.
