Hey guys, I've begun stripping my clip down to get it ready to install into my
'87 N/A. I have been doing some thinking and wanted to run this stuff by you guys and see what you all thought.

1) Factory Boost Guage: Obviously I can't just take the JDM boost guage out of the cluster and install it into my USDM N/A guage cluster. I have a couple of options, I can get my hands on a boost guage out of a USDM Supra, would this be a feasable option? If not, if I got the entire USDM Turbo Supra cluster would this be better? Also, I have some questions on hooking it up to work w/ the factory cluster. The pressure sensor for the boost guage in my clip doesn't wire into the engine harness but goes through the fender. How would I make this work? Also, since I'm starting w/ an N/A does this make it more difficult to set up the factory boost guage to work?

2)Hydrofan: I think I've decided to run the Hydrofan setup instead of the electric fans I was running on my 7M. Is it difficult to wire the system up? Also I've read about the replacement of the waterpump for people not using the Hydrofan and the use of the 2JZ Serpentine Belt. My question is, if I keep the Hydrofan, what Serpentine belt should I use...the one that came w/ my clip is just about on it's last leg. Also, if I am to keep the Hydrofan system, what do I do when/if the waterpump finally fails, what are my options then? Has anybody had any clearance issues w/ the Hydrofan setup and the Koyo radiator. I know it was designed for the JZA application, but things seem tight enough in the engine compartment w/ the stock radiator in place. Also, my cooler for the fluid that runs in front of the condenser isn't in too great of shape...I do however have an aftermarket oil cooler ziptied through my condenser that I was using as a transmission cooler for my auto trans.(Koyo radiator doesn't have a trans. cooler in it) Since I'm swapping to a 5spd, could I use this as a replacement for the cooler for the Hydrofan fluid w/ longer lines running to it?

3)Charcoal Canister: What do I do w/ this...I see the thing (black box) that the JDM car has to replace it in a similar place near the wiper motor. Do I swap my stock Charcoal canister for this box, or keep the one that is in my engine compartment now. Also, if I do swap it out, how do I mount that box in my engine compartment? It doesn't have the same kind of brackets as the USDM Charcoal canister.

Thank you guys in advance for any knowlege you can impart upon me. This is my first true swap and my first venture into the forced induction arena, so I'm a little noobish on some of the details...also not the greatest w/ wiring things, but I'm learning. But any help you guys can offer would be greatly greatly appreciated.

if the clip has a boost gauge, you can run 3 wires from a usdm boost sensor or the senor that comes with the car , run them into the car to where the boost guage would go and eithe install a usdm turbo cluster or just the boost aguage and swap it out. it would be much easier and bette rto buy a pillar guage and install a boost guage and a a/f ration or egt gauge. for relliablilyt and ease or replacement parts, run the 2j water pump and clutch fan they are reliable and easily replaced the hydrofan setup is a common sought afte item and you can get money for the system. Otherwise it woul be easier to keep your electirc twin fans. on the charcoal cannister, that is a smog device. if you dont have smog, you dont even need it. Also with the twin turbo setup you will likely not have space for the round one. install the one that fits better or leave it off. if ur in a smog stat you will be illegal anyway

i would get aftermarket boost gauge.the stock boost gauge doesn't read high enought for the 1j even at stock boost level.i used the stock 7m charcol canister, but then swaped it out for the jdm one.if you use the hydro-fan you'll be able to find a replacment pump.many people post them in the for sale sections.if you got a clip, you will have all the parts to get it working
