Wow. :nono:

Absolutely amazing.

Not much else to say.

3 People killed....I'm surprised that's all. Then again, that's all they're able to get to at the moment.
The rest of the sections of the bridge that buckled are structurally not safe to get to. :(
Watching CNN, it looks like some kind of destruction of lego's and hotwheels.

I guess it collapsed a few hours ago during rush hour....ALSO, with traffic flowing through to go to the Twins' baseball game, so, quite a devastation. :icon_conf

Yep...Several cars are submerged in the water of the river.

There are tons of injuries...and heartbreaking to see some of the people in the footage of all this.

Amazing, makes you wonder how a bridge engineered just in the 1960's can collapse like this.

***EDIT*** Snapped a few pics of the TV screen from about 15 feet away lol...
For anyone that doesn't have access to a TV...or, has really, really slow internet.

Yea its bad, I wonder too. I'm betting the supports that where in the water gave way, maybe a pocket and it finally collapsed.

Hearing an eyewitness interviewed:.............

"We were crawling down around beneath the rubble and wreckage and came across a car that was completely crushed. Didn't even bother...We continued on..."

:nono: :(

My brother N Law is a Fireman in the cities and he has been on sceen there since it happened. My wife Lanette was talking to her sister about it and Terry my brother N Law called Ladawn and said it is really bad. Looks like it may be a few days before we hear the real death counts????

This is really sad to see. I pray for those involved, and those who have perrished.

I heard one report say that the bridge was undergoing some sort of construction. Another thing they said was that terrorism was not suspected. Then after seeing pictures, it seems like a good bit of damage to have just happened

I have a brother in law who drives across there twice a week about that time - but not today - and a sister who took a new job a couple of months ago who used to cross in rush hour every day until she took the new position. I called up there an hour ago and nobody we know. I'm sure there will be a few more deaths before it's done, but hopefully not. These things suck. :(

I'm not usually one to get upset about someone making light of a bad situation...

but that was truly bad taste, man :( Funny < Tragedy. That's a lot of tragedy to try to outweigh with the funny

I used to design bridges at the last company I worked for... I'm curious to see what caused the collapse.

There's plenty of things that could have caused it, but I dare not begin speculating.

too bad there hasn't been any video of it giving way, that would have been quite the sight.

I doubt it.

There was not enough time for anyone to begin recording it as they said the entire bridge buckled and collapsed all within a few seconds.

there is video

check it on cnn and youtube

you can see the cars on the bridge as it is going down.

I am from south of the cities but used to live about 1 block from that bridge.

When i heard it went down, i thought just the section over the river, but no.. the ENTIRE thing went down from right after university ave to infront of Washiton Ave.

That is 1/4 mile of bridge collapsing!
