Ok here is my "Build Thread"

I just bought my 87 Turbo on Saturday. It has the 7M-GTE engine right now. hehehe. In the future I want to do a 2JZ swap. But we will see how money goes. Per Charlie I will be looking into getting a fan shroud and a Timing Belt cover. I also need a paint job soon. This build will take a while since I am in South Korea serving in the Army until November 2009. So bare with me. Any tips and suggestions are welcomed.

Ok so first on my list of things to do is to keep the car running. Right now I have my suggestions through my buddy MKIIIEntropy, Charlie, and we have narrowed it down to possible bad vacuum tube or a bad AFM. Also since the guy who I bought it from had it sitting and not running for about a year or more I will be chaning the oil and fuel and correcting that.

Also I am not the most mechanically or car inclined person right now. I am going to get there by the time my Supra, who is currently unnamed until I drive her, is finished. So if I say some dumb shit just let me know what I should have said. Oh yea pics :)

Update Time:

Well my step dad and bro in law have been able to work on my car. They figured this out: The wiring is all fucked up. Like beyond belief. There are wires where they didnt know where they went. I have no AC. I have to charcoal canister. I have no cruise control. I have no cat or exhaust. However, Since I am states side for a little while we were able to take pictures of my friends 87 Turbo. So we took them to see where everything goes. Right now the vaccum system is working better. Still not perfect but its managable. They rigged up a muffler for now. I am going to purchase the Tanabe Super Hyper Medallion Exhaust Supra MK3 Turbo for 500 and a Direct Bolt on Catalytic Converter for 177. Right now im searching the F/S threads for the cam gear cover, cruise control speed controller, charcoal canister, and a fan shroud. I found some for the cam gear cover and charcoal canister. I might have also found the cruise control as well. But this fan shroud is a bitch to find. Later on I will continue to flush the fluids and put new fluids in there since it has sat for like a year.

On the good notes. My step dad has the vehicle running which is far more than the guy before me did. So that is always a plus. But once we get all of these little issues figured out we will be able to see if there are any other problems. And see how good the engine still is.

That is all for now.

Well... Another great day in the world of the upcoming Supra. Just found out that my head gasket is blown. FTL. So now my step dad is going to work on getting that together. So I am going to be upgrading to the HKS head gasket. Hopefully this will help. But yea. So hopefully before I am out of korea it will be driveable.

I'll keep you updated.

Ok... Update time. So as you know by reading above... I had a BHG... Well that was fixed and in the process we found out that my pistons were bad, engine wasn't in properly and a lot of shit was fucked... well after months of hard labor by my step dad, since I am in the country of the not quite right (South Korea), he was able to find some new pistons get the engine machined and finally running again. Also, I guess my temp guage was fucked up but it had a bad ground so now it is good.

Now whats left to get it in a decent daily driver condition is the brakes need to get worked on (in progress), my turbo boost guage needs to be fixed, and a new winshield.

And hopefully if that comes soon and swiftly I can get it painted prior to me getting home so I can drive it around with a fresh paint job. And because my car needs it bad.

There is the update :)

Looks like things are lining up for you. that car should be a blast to drive. Im really liking the white instrument cluster. If you don't find a fan shroud you could probably take some time to bend one out of some sheet metal. I know you said you aren't that technical but you would be suprised what you could do to a car that you really want to get into.

Ok so my step dad just got the brakes done. He took it out for a spin and bam he said it takes off. He said it is currently running like 7-8lbs of boost. But the brakes work and there are just a couple more things that need to be done to it for it to be good to go. minor stuff now. major stuff is done.
