We marked everything else, but forgot to mark the cams.. eh trial and error I suppose :-D

I have cams here... yea, I can see the gear, I will know which is exhaust... I new that too, thinking about it

edit:

max owners taking over SM

I decided to only machine the head and get a MHG, I know I know... dont do it, but from the posts I have read with people just machining the head, and talking to friends of mine who know far more then I saying the odds the bottom block would become warped ect... I am going to take the risk... I plan to rebuild / get a new motor anyway just right now I am tooo much in debt

I don't know about 'taking over', there's far more Supra owners than Maxima owners here, unlike the org where half the people who post don't have a Max at all.

Yea, didn't even think of the CPS gear, good point. I knew there had to be some distinctive mark or 'feature' one of the cams would have over the other.

Just IMO, there's always a possibility of deck warpage. Don't have to warp the entire block, just the deck. I just wish your mechanic had a precision straight edge, not that it'll mean anything until we get that deck cleaned up from the old HG material.

I only had my head machined when I blew my headgasket. A Cometic MHG and ARP studs were used and it was fine at 15 psi up until i Sold it and its still going strong. I think it depends on the situation whether the block NEEDS to be machined. We just need to see if the block is warped/warped enough to warrant a machining. Just my .02 (I know I'm "wrong" IJ. No need to tell me in another post)

Well.. I looked up info on the HG and came across a post with a poll about people who have machined Head, Machined Both, used all types of HG, and the ppl who only machined head and used MHG had a 9% failure rate, 23 / 2. PPL who machined both head and block and MHG had a 13% faliure rate, 25 / 3 or something like that... I just dont see the point...

Honestly, if it was me, I would just get the head gasket set and use the composite from that. If you plan on rebuilding anyway, there's really no point in dropping the extra cash on an MHG.

Well... I have been spending my time as I wait for money for my supra building a site for her

http://blaisebox.ath.cx/

relearning PHP in Object Oriented Mode

no real updates on the site since I have not done anything since my last post here, but that is going to be my main site for my build, I will post here, but most detailed stuff ect will be there for those that have any interest in wondering over.

Before you care to bash the site...

it is coded 99.9% PHP for all data within the page

the only HTML used is for tables and the basic text (Navigation, recent Pictures), the site contains 2 websites, index.php and a configuration file for my database connection, all the rest of the information / picture location is located on the actual MySQL Database, and the code for the site is housed within index.php

before you say you can go ahead and make 10 times better, this is more so for myself...

and unti you can explain what this does...

HTML:
else if($httplocation)
	{
	echo"<table width=90% border=0 cellpadding=1 cellspacing=1 align=center><tr>";
	$x = 0;
		if ($stmt = $mysqli->prepare("SELECT location FROM photos"))
		{
		$stmt->execute();
		$stmt->bind_result($location);

			while (mysqli_stmt_fetch($stmt))
			{
			if($x == 3){echo "</tr>"; $x = 0;}
				$x++;

        		echo "<td><p align='center'><a href=/supraphotos/" . $location . " target=_blank><img src=/supraphotos/" . $location . " border='0' align='middle' width=115 height=86></a></p><td>";
    		}
			echo "</tr></table>";
		}
	}
		?>
don't open your mouth

Some minor progress. Couldn't get the HG today, so put the head basically together. Intake, exhaust, fuel rail, followers and cams.

Edit: Fucking merlyn. His build site is http://blaisebox.ath.cx .

Some of the pics are all kinds of blurry, no idea how I managed that. Also no pics during, just after, eh well. Exhaust studs went back in no problem, all but 3 came out with the nut frozen on.

Hopefully we can get a HG and a timing belt relatively soon, and get this 7M running...

All thumbnails link to the hosted pic. Here's the main gallery.

Well, it runs! Finally. Installed a new timing belt, that proved to be fun.

Radiator could look better, but hey, it works. The shroud...was sacrificed.

This harness is toast, so we're getting a new one, hopefully soon:

Merlyn enjoying the chain strap we were using to torque the crank pulley bolt.

Nice and installed, lower half put together.

One of the many many many videos I wasted memory space with trying to get it to start.

Because of the like 20 videos we made trying to get her to crank (to capture the first life of the motor on film, for whatever reason), my batteries died by the time it actually did start.

A few times it would like to idle just for a second, then as soon as you get on the throttle a bit, it would stall out. This is me filming (as usual), with the master tech at the shop on the drivers side, and one of the techs on the passenger side. Some of our usual extremely technical discussions.

Will post the vids of the james-bond JDM style and the (attempted) brakestand when they finish uploading, so about next week...
