Got the timing fixed and she was purring nicely, so off I was to school. Got on the interstate, put the pedal down, hit about 4k RPM and BOOM! Thought i blew my motor, shit was flying everywhere behind my car so i pulled over and it was idling just fine(thank heavens!!!) looked down the road and plastic chunks were everywhere because my plastic mechanical fan exploded everywhere. There are about two blades left on it. So i took it off, and drove it back home watching the temp gauge closely(glad its cold out...)... Anyways, purpose of the post finally hehe. Anyone know who makes a good electric fan or should i get another clutch fan? Need to order one tonight! hehe.

Nah the clutch on it was worn out cuz it wouldnt ever release fully. I think it locked up for a second and spun it too fast causing the blades to exceed terminal velocity hahaha. Need some help on a new fan tho QUICK! No parts stores can order me one....

The clutch fan is more reliable than any electric fan rig.

Most likely, the fan blade collided with something to make it explode (like a broken shroud?).

The exact same thing happened to me. Mine was due to a broken fan shroud. Whats really lame is that I knew the shroud was cracked for months before it broke. I know what you mean by "EXPLODE" because when that thing rips off it sounds horrible.

you might want to check all the electrical connections around where that thing shredded. i had a belt go,and it ripped up a few elc. connections on the water neck.

Do you have the engine under cover on? If not, like someone mentioned before, something may have bounced up and knocked the fan.
